Diana Ross

So a show in Amsterdam was just announced. First and last time I saw her (pun intended) was in 2007. If the miming and setlist were not such an issue, I'd go immediatly. Now am in doubt. Any advice form peopel that saw her recently?

She mimed one song in 2007 probably because she was unsure of the words (quite common for her for many years to forget lyrics - she constantly messes up Chain Reaction still). There was no miming last year (although if she did mime the odd song I wouldn't particularly care, she is nearly 80). The set list for me though has barely changed in decades. That's the main reason I'm skipping the London shows this year. I'm happy I saw her last year but that's it for me now with live Diana shows unless she digs a bit and adds stuff like Swept Away, Muscles, Not Over You Yet, Last Time I Saw Him etc, in.

The tickets are pretty steep, from 67€ onwards? Eeks!

Diana is probably my favourite vocalist of all time but considering she is constantly touring she should vary the content more. She had so many hits but sticks to the same Supremes ones all the time. I haven't even heard Reach Out And Touch live and I have seen her many times.

Unfortunately the European shows are largely dictated by the expectation of US fans, so aside from the two UK number ones which she is always good enough to include, other UK hits like Work That Body, My Old Piano, All Of My Life, One Shining Moment, Touch By Touch & Eaten Alive (successful in much of Europe at least) never get an airing. Never mind mid-tier US hits also big in the UK like Surrender, Remember Me, Getting Ready For Love. This isn't even counting a ton of Supremes singles.

Even just a medley of some of the above would be welcome.

When I saw Ms Ross last year the one glaring omission on the setlist was When You Tell Me That You Love Me. As one of her biggest UK hits I'm sure most people would have preferred to hear that over If We Hold On Together.

With the excellent re issue of Cher's It's a Man's World out, it made me wish for another underrated but superb mid 90s album by a fellow legendary Diva, to get the re issue treatment:

Hopefully one day, along with Tina's Widest Dreams from the same period too.

I absolutely would love this to get a re-issue! It´s one of Diana´s best and it has never been out on vinyl.

I love this unofficial CD though:
