I've heard everyone about being a bit of a crying mess after Soul.. is it good crying or terrible crying?
Like: this has not been my best christmas so I could use the cheering up of a Pixar, not another punch in my guts..

I liked it.. not a single tear here which is odd after all other reviews cause I usually cry at everything?

Same, I’m usually a total sap for stuff like this. However, not crying doesn’t take away from the fact that I really loved the film. It was both simple and profound.

To share my thoughts on the message of the film, I’ll put it in spoilers in case someone prefers to go into it blindly:

I echo the sentiments of you all that it is the perfect film for this time. It especially resonated for me as someone who’s been unemployed for most of the pandemic, and losing sight of what my purpose and my spark is.

I love the beauty in the simple message that we aren’t defined by our talents, occupations, etc. and that just being alive, and appreciating the beauty in the experience we share, is our purpose itself.

I loved every moment of Soul. Another shining winner on the Pixar mantel. As mentioned, at a time when I’ve never felt more directionless with both my life and the world as a whole, the message of this film couldn’t have been more fitting. And the way the studio’s animation continues to get better with every film never ceases to amaze me.
