  1. Soul was lovely. I didn’t know much about the plot going in and it took some nice choices I wasn’t expecting.

  2. We watched Noelle and Godmothered this week and both were absolute delights. They're both lovely, charming, funny, heartwarming pictures.

  3. Soul was beautiful. It may have just become my favorite Pixar film.

  4. Yeah I’m all in on the Soul love. Wall-E is my favourite film of all time, and Soul floored me in the same way. It’s up there in my top 5 after one watch. And it’s just so beautiful.

  5. Soul really couldn't come out at a better time, huh

  6. Soul is absolutely one of my favourite Pixar movies already. It was absolutely stunning with the visuals and had so many layers to it. I do wonder how children will enjoy it though. I'm already thinking about watching it back, well done, Disney.

  7. Just watched Soul again. How do we not nominate voice performances for Awards?

Jamie was exceptional. I am constantly replaying the scene with his mother and getting his suit repaired in my head. His performance really resonates long after the movie has ended.

I've heard everyone about being a bit of a crying mess after Soul.. is it good crying or terrible crying?
Like: this has not been my best christmas so I could use the cheering up of a Pixar, not another punch in my guts..

  10. Speaking of crying... I haven't watched Soul yet but I did rewatch Coco tonight, blubbered at the end again.

  11. Is there a reason why Enchanted isn’t up for streaming on Disney Plus?

  12. Probably because the streaming rights are owned by someone right now. I assume it’ll come back once they have the sequel ready.

  13. Soul is good, but it’s missing something, not sure what that is.

  14. Just finished Soul. It’s inspiring me to live a little more after this pandemic mess. Beautiful movie!

  15. Soul was absolutely perfect in every way. The way Pixar go from strength to strength is astounding.

  16. Just finished Soul and I’m a mess. It really touched me, as others said it was just the right time. A lot of people needed this film.

  17. Unreal film. Weeping wreck by the end. Soundtrack is on repeat. (The soundtrack has two sections - the jazz stuff and the Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross stuff. Both sections are utterly sublime.)

I liked it.. not a single tear here which is odd after all other reviews cause I usually cry at everything?

  19. Same, I’m usually a total sap for stuff like this. However, not crying doesn’t take away from the fact that I really loved the film. It was both simple and profound.

To share my thoughts on the message of the film, I’ll put it in spoilers in case someone prefers to go into it blindly:

I echo the sentiments of you all that it is the perfect film for this time. It especially resonated for me as someone who’s been unemployed for most of the pandemic, and losing sight of what my purpose and my spark is.

I love the beauty in the simple message that we aren’t defined by our talents, occupations, etc. and that just being alive, and appreciating the beauty in the experience we share, is our purpose itself.

  20. I loved every moment of Soul. Another shining winner on the Pixar mantel. As mentioned, at a time when I’ve never felt more directionless with both my life and the world as a whole, the message of this film couldn’t have been more fitting. And the way the studio’s animation continues to get better with every film never ceases to amaze me.
