I thought the man that was in the Christmas special was the new Doctor. I didn't get to see all of it so I wasn't sure.

Ah of course! That's probably who she/he meant. I will be mentioning Russell Tovey in every post I write in this thread.

Comedian Jennifer Saunders, former Doctor Who assistant Billie Piper and film star Catherine Zeta Jones have also been mentioned in connection with the role.

From BBC News. CZJ is a very random one and Billie Piper would make no sense.

I want Johnson from Peepshow to be The Doctor. Not the actor who plays him so much but the character. Corrigan would of course be The Doctor's assistant. I would watch that program. I would watch the shit out of it.
