This was my first thought, particularly as Russell says he's "playing the greatest enemy the Doctor has ever faced".
I mean the Toymaker was very "great" in terms of actual power, and it's not the first time a (vaguely) cult favourite enemy has been brought back for a milestone episode. Can't say I'm enthralled at the possibility but I think Russell could pull it off.
Dodo spends the entire story in sociopathic glee. I think reinventing the old baddies can work, not always (the classic era Great Intelligence is fucking terrifying, the modern remake not so much), but Russell has a good chance.
New set photo from Bristol. Spoiler Seems to confirm the Celestial Toymaker is back? Also, note the German on some of the shop signs.
They're adapting The Nightmare Fair for the 60tb Anniversary???? Though imagine if RTD just does famously unmade stories for whatever specials he has planned
I knew we were being too spoiled by having the iconic DoctorDonna duo back. NPH is such a chore of a human being.
He was excellent in Its a Sin and A Series of Unfortunate Events so I’m sure he’ll be great in Doctor Who too
