Doctor Who

I don't care much for Neil Patrick Harris but I am so excited for what they do with the Celestial Toymaker. I've always loved when Doctor Who dips into more fantastical and absurd settings (The Chimes of Midnight from Big Finish is the perfect example of this), and I think there's a ton of untapped potential there to unlock. Cannot believe it's taken this long to get a Christmas special based around him.

Also, it's so nice to have a Doctor Who trailer again that focuses on striking imagery and building intrigue rather than just...explaining the premise, previewing weak one-liners and showing us guest stars that are nowhere near as exciting as they seem to think. I can count the amount of trailers from the Chibnall era that actually got me excited for the following episode on one hand - even the stronger episodes were done absolutely dirty by the editing team.

The trailer made me shriek with joy. Some are taking it as David and Catherine are back. The others? Who cares. These are the ones you want. But my goodness, I love them so much it doesn't matter at all. The Power of the Doctor gave us a substantial sixtieth-anniversary bonanza. This can provide us with an RTD celebration if that's what they're going for.

If they spend the whole miniseries hiding Donna from The Doctor, I am going to be so disappointed. That schtik will grow old within minutes.
There would be no need for him to be in her house if that’s all they are going to do. There has to be more to it.

That won't happen. We've already seen footage of the two of them together. What we haven't seen, at least not in the trailer, is Bernard Cribbins. I wonder if he'll be there at all.

Late but omg this cathartic feeling that Doctor Who is back.

Essentially - The Smugglers and The Underwater Menace will be animated and colorised for the 60th anniversary. They're also expected to colorise An Unearthly Child. Funding for the animated episodes has been found, and it apparently has nothing to do with Disney.
Very random choice of episodes but still pretty welcome! I have a feeling they'll do The Celestial Toymaker this year as well, given what's predicted for the anniversary.

EDIT: With The Smugglers being animated, it leaves only The Highlanders from season 4 without an original recording/animation.
For Hartnell, only 6 serials (27 episodes) remain missing with no official recon/animation.
For Troughton, only 3 serials (13 episodes) have no official recon/animation.
