Doctor Who

They removed Fear Her from iPlayer because of the H*w E****ds cameo.

I'm still not over this moment. It really is one of the best build ups to a reveal. I've been watching this constantly for the last couple of weeks.

Also, Russell has confirmed in an interview this week that it was the explosion in The Star Beast that woke up Sutekh. That's good to know, because no matter how many times I watch the episodes I've never really been able to work out if Sutekh has been conscious the whole time or if there was a specific recent event that kicked it off. I know it was speculated that it was around that time due to Susan's first appearance in Wild Blue Yonder, but it's good to finally have the confirmation.

The way I leapt up from my chair at one in the morning because Sutekh was back. The fan gene kicked in. I wasn't hugely sold on the finale, but that sequence was thrilling.

Haha I don’t blame you! I didn’t know much about Sutekh, other than his name and a picture from the classic series, but I almost had the same reaction.

It was the weird cut to the screen and all the text flying around. It reminded me of The Tenth Planet, strangely.

Dot and Bubble is probably still my favorite episode of the season and in my top 3 in the show's history.

Even so, 73 Yards is magnificent, and there are so many layers to what the Woman represents.

On one level, she's a physical manifestation of Ruby's fear of abandonment and being given up for adoption.

But on another, it's not hard to see how she could be a metaphor for being LGBT+ more generally. I mean, something intrinsic in you that, when other people find out, they run away? Being afraid to get close to other people because you're worried they'll find out the "truth" and leave you? Something that's part of you that initially makes you afraid yet later becomes a source of empowerment? Truly a masterpiece.

The novelisation of 73 Yards is also good, too. It sticks pretty closely to the TV show, but there are a couple of additions, such as a cameo of someone at UNIT HQ, as well as a slightly more detailed explanation of Earth during this timeline.

Dot and Bubble's coda seemed a little ...flattened. It felt like someone had intervened and instructed them to be a little less dial direct and a little more codified. Ncuti delivered though.

The first-half idea was good though, eejits with their head so far in their soash that they totter into the road is a major fear whenever I drive anyplace. But I'm not really on board with an entire lack of likeable characters caught up in the drama, it robs it of much emotional investment if you'd rather see them die than survive.
