Doja Cat - Planet Her

Not sure where this is coming from, but there's been a rumor going around for a couple weeks that she's prepping a new album for next year. I remember her playing RCA tracks from Planet Her in February 2020, just a few months after Hot Pink had been released, so this wouldn't necessarily surprise me if it wound up being true.

Yeah, a decent chunk of Planet Her is quite old and we know that she’s quite prolific normally. Her talking recently about the next record being more personal and being more selective when it comes to collaborations has me intrigued too.

If she's just happily creating music, it feels like a great concept. The world is here for what she's offering, and what helps differentiate her from Rihanna's conveyor belt of an early career is that she isn't touring in between each release or promoting frantically.

If Ariana Grande can crank out back to back albums, so can Doja to be honest. Clearly the people are here for Doja. Might as well strike while the iron is hot if all the material is going to remain this good.

I was listening to Planet Her today like I've done most days since it was released and I found myself thinking she's one of the most talented artists alive right now? Her and Lil Nas X share the same naturally comedic disposition so I think it's easy to overlook but the fact that she cranked out Planet Her off the back of two very strong recent albums with a fourth album apparently in the final stages is legitimately insane. There's also something to be said for her ability to inject her humor into her songs without it ever coming across as grating? I could throw Get Into It (Yuh) onto repeat and I swear it would be grating without her presence.

Basically this is all to say Planet Her is turning into one of my most played albums of the year and I don't foresee that changing, especially if we're getting a second deluxe edition at some point.
