Doja Cat

I really like Been Like This but it seems like a random choice to perform given the other buzzworthy songs on the album

Well that’s kind of the point. The other songs would have lent themselves to a more hyped up and traditional Doja moment, which is the opposite of what she wanted to do.

It was a good enjoyable performance but I do kind of wish she performed something else . I do love both Been Like This and You Right but I think this would have been a perfect moment to do a medley of Need To Know and Woman her two songs that are on the cusp of taking off and being big hits .

Yeah i'm surprised neither of the songs she did was Need to Know or Woman.
But I love Been Like This. Her lifting into the sky, floating there, moving like she does with the ring orbiting her... It was beautiful.

You Right is technically still the current single, so that performance still feels like a commercially viable opportunity. Most of all, I’m happy she did a performance she liked. I’ll never get over how done with Say So she is after last year’s awards season.

I'll be back to ramble later, but I fucking adore her and her commitment to pushing herself and her art to new places when she could easily settle into something easier and/or more obvious. The way she's stepped into this newfound and insane level of buzz and virality over the last year while still maintaining what makes her unique is incredible. I always think I couldn't love her more than I already do, and then somehow I do.

Been Like This is one of my favorites on the album and I'm so happy she gave it a moment.

I'm so obsessed with her acceptance speech look sksks. She looks like a demon from SMT/Persona. It's fashion...it's fashion... it's...fashion.

Also her performance was best of the night for me. I loved Nas, Normani, Chloe, and Olivia, but Doja has a level of polish and professionalism that set her above. It's just flawless. Not a single moment wasted and not a single hair out of place. The string arrangements were gorgeous and the choreography (along with that entire zero gravity section for Been Like This!) was perfect.

I agree. I know she said "but I'm an artist, I'm tired of doing what's expected!!!" but.. it's only been what, one year since she became huge? Since this was her first proper moment in front of her peers/audience, I wish she'd done something more out there.
At least I'm glad Been Like This was in there since it's one of my favorite moments of the albums and it's been underlooked so far.

This was her last chance to perform You Right. The AMAs are coming and I’m sure she’ll perform Need To Know. Also SNL is returning soon and I’ll be surprised if she’s not already booked as a performer and a host.
