Re: Donkeyboy — ‘The Hits’ (‘Triggerfinger’ feat. Kiesza, ‘Crazy Something Normal’, ‘Hero’)

Seems the album has turned into a compilation entitled The Hits. It came out on 26th September in Norway (only digitally). It's basically all of their singles ("Silver Moon" is the album version, not the Bassflow remake that was a single) plus "Out of Control" from the Silver Moon album.

1. Hero
2. City Boy
3. Ambitions
4. Sometimes
5. Crazy Something Normal
6. Triggerfinger
7. Pull of the Eye
8. Silver Moon
9. Out of Control
10. Stereolife

And as usual you cant bloody buy it in the UK. One of my very favourite bands though. Im not quite sure why they have chucked out a Hits album, hope its not the end. Crazy Something Normal is still one of my Top 10 songs of the year as well.

Kind of disappointing that the build up all year with these new singles was leading up to a greatest hits collection. I wish they'd have been clearer about that at the start. After Crazy Something Normal I was expecting another pop masterpiece from them. A true third album. The three new tracks are great and all but they're not really an effective replacement for what many of their fans wanted from them. Also I hope this isn't an indicator that the band is coming to an end.

And yeah I can't find "The Hits" anywhere to download and buy. Just the Norwegian iTunes so far.

I loved both albums but somehow these past 3 singles just haven't been that good. Maybe they felt the same and are going back to the drawing board?

isn't it a bit early for a hits album...these guys have not been around that long..."Sometimes" is my jam! And as for Kiesza, I actually saw her posing for photos right outside my office in Times Square (New York) a week ago. Quite random.

I may be wrong - I hope I am.. but I have a feeling the Greatest Hits release wasn't their choice. Are they about to be dropped by their record label?

It's all very suspicious and worrying. Apparently the band are justifying their hits album by saying they've been around for five years now and it's time for one. I think it feels like a much shorter amount of time because they only got big with 2011's Ambitions (which I think was released in Norway much earlier; but that's when the rest of the world heard it) which wasn't that long ago. I wouldn't be as disheartened if it were actually possible to find "The Hits" somewhere but outside of some ninja skills to get it from the Norwegian iTunes I can't seem to find it anywhere at the moment.

At the very least the band stated the album managed to get to number one in Norway so that's quite awesome for the band.

I'll bet they're getting dropped from the label. There is no other reason they'd have a "greatest hits" so soon.

Interesting theory. You might be right. As far as I know Silver Moon didn't exactly set the charts on fire like the album before it and was a disappointment for the label. It's impossible for us to truly know what's going on behind the scenes though without Donkeyboy outright making a statement over Twitter or whatever. Then again the label funded promotion and videos for three songs for this hits album so there's a good chance the band might still be okay. At least I hope they are. They produce perfect, uplifting electro-pop music.

It'd be such a shame if they released this hits album and then called it a day.

Bizarre. This does reek of label interference, unless they've decided to split up and throw this out to complete their contract.

We'll find out soon enough. Donkeyboy are pretty reliable and good about being clear and honest with their fans. If they have an announcement that pertains to this theory they'll announce it over Twitter. Quite soon I would have thought.

Don't suppose anyone has had any luck finding The Hits anywhere yet? I'd really love to have it.

Well their website/facebook header advertises their latest single 'Crazy Something Normal'. So seems out of date. Also strange how Hero has not had an international iTunes release when the previous 2 singles were.

@MrBartolozzi - I think it's a Spotify exclusive for the moment? I can only find embeds in music news articles. This newest link works, though! Also, DONKEYBOY ARE AMAZING. *deep breaths*

Also, this song is screaming out for a wall of synths remix, where everything sounds like 2:50 onwards.

The official music video is up now.

EDIT: This song + music video is unspeakably emotionally touching.
EDIT: We probably need to re-name this thread again, new album coming?

The song is fantastic and the video is the perfect complement to it. Emotionally powerful, visually stunning and a touching story. The combination of both together is just magic. I just don't think there could be a better video to this. Their videos are always amazing but I think they reached the next level with this one. It's the best thing I've ever seen them do and I absolutely adored City Boy. This song and video needs way more love on here. It's the best video out right now.

The scene at the end when the girl dances with the "Donkeyboy" and the final chorus kicks in - it's just unreal.

I... might be missing something with the video. It was fine, but I didn't find it particularly moving in any sense. The song's pretty spectacular, though.
