Ive been listening to his Take Care album recently and I don’t think it sounds immature at all, albeit dramatic. It was a coming of age album. His problem is he’s regressed and seems a bit uninspired.
Take Care is one of my all time favourite albums. The lyricism and production were on point (thanks Abel!) and showcased Drake as a semi-realist and relatable rapper. Everything since then has gone downhill.
I feel like we can't celebrate yet because if any of the songs debut in the Top 10, he'll have tied Madonna for most Top 10 hits in history. And with a new album coming in the summer... it's no question he's gonna break her record. Welp.
It's pretty common to drop double singles lately. He's done it a few times. Money in The Grave came out with Omerta and God's Plan came out with Diplomatic Immunity. And The Weeknd and Selena Gomez also dropped two singles at once recently. It kind of lets the public pick which single they want to run with. In The Weeknd's case, Heartless hit #1 right away and Blinding Lights took a few months to become a real smash on both streaming and radio.
