Me after pressing play on that snippet:

That sounds almost exactly like Levitating based on that small clip... like, almost too much like it.
This is probably the cleverest way for her to go: putting a cute lil summer track out to remind people who she is, why they like her/what she’s known for and potentially secure a quick minor hit capitalising off a big cultural moment, without galvanising or spoiling the hype and excitement of her new era and sound later this year.

Something easy and light and the atom bomb super bop in autumn. I like this timeline.

I really don't think anyone needs a reminder of who Dua Lipa is. Future Nostalgia will leave a lasting legacy.

I hope the song is great and that this doesn't mean we're not getting a first taste of DL3 this autumn.

Yeh… I mean whatever she puts out next will smash per se but I didn’t get any sense of evolution from the clip but .. it’s a snippet and also a soundtrack. Come slay me Ms Lipa I will bow at your heels

Did she contribute multiple songs to the soundtrack or just the one? Either way, I’m ready.

Supposedly multiple. There were even rumours she was doing the “curating” at one point but I think that fell by the wayside.

We have but that won't happen with Dua. She's A-list. She has multiple recurrent streaming ubersmashes. She payed hundreds of sold out arena shows. She's constantly doing stuff in fashion and getting heavy online coverage. People speculate about her relationships, she has a podcast, she never disappeared for more than two or three months.

And three years after Future Nostalgia, still no big pop girl has successfully set a new blueprint for how pop sounds today, and the disco wave Dua rode so well continues to be popular (while mutating). In the same way Ariana became the face and voice of pop that incorporated trap and dominated the Hot 100, Dua is the face and voice of dance-pop with disco origins.

And the charts are becoming considerably more female. There's so much appetite for her kind of pop right now. The GP is not about to forget her. Super glad we get new music anyway obv. But she doesn't need to be doing this. Seems like a for-fun venture.
