Also "just a soundtrack song" reeeeally doesn't wash when it's the lead single from what looks certain to be one of the biggest films of the year, even before you consider the massive era Dua has just ended.

I mean, if it was the DL3 lead, I’d have more opinion either way for sure. But the stakes for soundtrack singles feel much less (for me at least), especially based on some other girls recent soundtrack “offérings“. It’s fun and hits the spot - that’s really all I was expecting.

It's a bit shit but the tea is that almost everyone has totally given up when it comes to soundtrack singles these days. They're not the event they once were. Which I find a bit sad, because they used to be an opportunity for the pop girls to create something special.

This is why I only mentioned Into The Groove and Vogue - I'm only 'comparing' with first few albums era Madonna. Nobody expected a Vogue but maybe a Gambler or a Causing A Commotion at least? I'm only being 'harsh' as she's the new and only BPG right now.

Hearing this for the first time put me in mind of this post-"Blurred Lines"/"Get Lucky" monstrosity



Not that it's that bad, just a more-or-less equally shameless reheat of lightning-in-a-bottle über-smashes that goes too far in the direction of pastiche (of pastiche).

The video is excellent though.

It sounds a little disjointed as if there’s no proper “build up” and the chorus also doesn’t hit as hard as it should, but I already expected a Future Nostalgia outtake from the beginning.

It’s fine after all. Probably will have a cute moment on the movie and that’s it. No idea why but it’s clear for a few years now that most of the girls just don’t care about the “soundtrack song” anymore. Guess the $$$ isn’t that much anymore.

I don’t know friends, tracks like Shallow, Boss Bitch and No Time To Die were good songs. This is disappointing because they had all the ingredients to do something great. It’s not the disco that’s bothering me, it’s just boring.
