Dua Lipa - "Dance the Night" + 3rd Album

Yeah Madonna’s quick lil last minute lolz OST songs were Into The Groove and Vogue.

Into The Groove and Vogue!
Crazy For You, Live To Tell, This Used To Be My Playground, I'll Remember, Beautiful Stranger....oh and American Pie I guess (yes it was shite, but it got to number 1)

Also "just a soundtrack song" reeeeally doesn't wash when it's the lead single from what looks certain to be one of the biggest films of the year, even before you consider the massive era Dua has just ended.

I’m here for a basic soundtrack bop, but since it tows such a similar line to her previous hit singles (that were much better!) I don’t feel the need to return to it much.

This sounds good and expensive but it doesn’t have the special sauce of Future Nostalgia. I do wonder if it’s a leftover from back then though, since it’s produced by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt?
It's not, they made it specifically for the soundtrack.

Vas, not everyone is Madonna. Let’s be realistic now.

(I’m trying to cut Miss Dua some slack, if only because of Atlantic’s involvement in this.)

This is why I only mentioned Into The Groove and Vogue - I'm only 'comparing' with first few albums era Madonna. Nobody expected a Vogue but maybe a Gambler or a Causing A Commotion at least? I'm only being 'harsh' as she's the new and only BPG right now.

I know, I know.

Remember that time Madonna released Beautiful Stranger for an Austin Powers soundtrack?! Her mind.

The best part is the intro.

Also dead at people thinking this is going to be next album's sound. Basically 0% instict when it comes to pop campaigns, it's obvious she is departing from Disco.

Hearing this for the first time put me in mind of this post-"Blurred Lines"/"Get Lucky" monstrosity

Not that it's that bad, just a more-or-less equally shameless reheat of lightning-in-a-bottle über-smashes that goes too far in the direction of pastiche (of pastiche).

The video is excellent though.

It sounds a little disjointed as if there’s no proper “build up” and the chorus also doesn’t hit as hard as it should, but I already expected a Future Nostalgia outtake from the beginning.

It’s fine after all. Probably will have a cute moment on the movie and that’s it. No idea why but it’s clear for a few years now that most of the girls just don’t care about the “soundtrack song” anymore. Guess the $$$ isn’t that much anymore.
