Dua Lipa - Radical Optimism

Just home from Pink so I'm catching the end of the set on BBC1. Can't wait to watch the rest. Even from these last couple of songs, you can see she's really risen to the occasion.

Ready to be absolutely feral over even the slightest criticism of that performance for the rest of time.

Someone: it was ok but
Me, ready to dismantle you like a child sociopath pulling limbs off an insect: what was that

She went too heavy on the "Glasto you're making my dreams come true" gubbins... but at least she got that all out the way early. This won't be getting deleted from my PVR. 9.975/10.

Just the best popstar of her generation, easily. She started off a bit nervous but from 'Illusion' onwards, it was eat after eat; 'Love Again' being a particular highlight. The 'Radical Optimism' songs really soared in the setlist - she's so good at incorporating her latest material into a show. And as usual the mic was on - never missed a note in her life. With all the foolish discourse, this will definitely be a vindicating moment for her.

I think she was absolutely terrified at the beginning (her breath control is normally perfect but there were definitely a few times during "Training Season" and "One Kiss" where it felt like she was barely getting to the end of a line) but by the end of "One Kiss" it felt like she had connected with the crowd and she just soared for ninety minutes straight after that. "Be The One" was absolutely transcendent and every new mix hit like a truck. Mixing "New Rules" with fucking Bicep? She's insane.

She has also just become... one of the best performers out there at the moment. Her skills on stage feel weirdly slept on because she had a pretty rough start, but she has to be one of the few people to actually turn hate and mockery into fuel instead of just talking about doing it, because the way she's just worked and honed her craft is something to be admired. Like, I think the list of people who could do what she did tonight is pretty small at the moment? She's a force.

New album sounded great next to everything else. She shut everyone down. And up. I'm so glad I stan talent and not whatever Twitter tells me to!

I've been a Dua stan since Be the One and New Love in 2015. What an amazing moment to hear Be the One (one of my favourite songs ever) performed on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury. A nice throwback to her previous Glasto performance of it too by going down into the crowd. 9 years of living with this special song and she really made it into a special moment. It seems to be the one connecting the most with people at this early stage... it's risen to #19 already on iTunes. I'd love if it could reach a new peak... STREAM BE THE ONE NOW!

The setlist was relentlessly good. You could she worked so hard and there was nothing to fault. The setlist was hit after hit, the vocals were on point. She created her own world and I want to live in. One of the best headline shows in Glastonbury history for sure.
