24 Hours was released in 2005 as the only single from the Instant Star Season 1 soundtrack. Alexz Johnson was another Canadian star plague by label issues. She had been an actress ever since she was a child, but music was always her main passion.

After Instant Star ended in 2008, Alexz announced that she had signed a record deal with Epic Records, and that she had written and recorded an album produced by Grammy Award winning producer, Greg Wells. They were introduced through his brother Rob Wells, one of the songwriters on Instant Star. Five songs from her upcoming album were posted on her MySpace page and indicated a move away from her typical pop-rock sound on Instant Star, leaning more into "world pop", citing influences from artists such as Paul Simon, Kate Bush, and Annie Lennox.

Unfortunately, before the album's release date, she was dropped by Epic Records along with a third of their roster and had her album shelved. Honestly, one of the biggest musical betrayals i've ever experienced! The songs from that album, now known as "Weight", all eventually leaked online but still i'll never forgive them for that. She continues to make music today, and has released a couple of independent albums and EPs since then.

@DJHazey (5.25) - Sounds like it’s building into something I’m familiar with from some long forgotten time in my life, however the chorus doesn’t deliver any nostalgic moment nor does it work in general really. Also this ‘chair backpack’ video is completely bizarre.

@Sprockrooster (9) - Whew Canada and their female Johnson poprock singers are bringing it. Ana Johnsson is one of my fave poprock artists and to be honest I never heard of Alexz before but she is definitely on the checkout list. This is great.

@berserkboi (10) - I don’t remember loving this if I knew it but what an awesome song! Reminds me of Roy Orbison song in parts too - @unnameable might know which!

Ok, my highest score so far that left was actually Fefe's ddd and Bif as a close second.

Poor Skye. That being said, her 00s rock songs (at least the ones at this rate) are nowhere close to her Sumo Cyco songs. Can't wait for their new album as this is a smash

Yas another stan! I just found out they've released another single a few weeks back, with yet another one on the way this month.

UM HELLO THESE ARE HUGE JAMS. I've never loved the vocal style she uses on Bystander, but the song is still so good and No Surrender is awesome. Catch me stanning Skye/Sumo Cyco by the end of the week (or night ddd).

Okay the rest of the Canadian songs are fine and at least got a 6/10 from me. In fact I really only will be targeting my scores between 5-7 now as their my lowest remaining. (I gave two "negative" scores)

As for Sumo Cyco, I stan hard for their System of a Down cover. Please click.

Of course the original will be present in my next planned rate: Linkin Park and the Nu Metal Era.

Mess at Fefe being the first out.
"Bye Bye Boyfriend" is actually one of my favourites from her debut. It's obviously not on the level of "Take Me Away" and I agree with majority of the voters that the chorus is the weakest part, but the verses and pre-chorus are brilliant. Would've gotten a 9 had I voted.

Fefe's debut album is excellent, but the scrapped sophomore didn't impress me at all. I still have to get to listen to "Joy".

Can I Go Now is the 2nd single from, 90s It girl, Jennifer Love Hewitt's last studio album BareNaked. The song was written and produced by Meredith Brooks. Cool!

It was released in 2003, and failed to chart in the United States but peaked at number 12 in Australia and number 8 in the Netherlands, becoming one of her most successful songs overseas. Cool!

I honestly have no idea how big her music actually was in the US, but her singles from this album constantly played on our music channels here in Canada so i've got some love for them.

@DJHazey (7.25) - Just sounds slightly less cheesy to me than BareNaked, but still isn’t up to much.

@Sprockrooster (6) - This feels very of it’s time. It was nice then. But I have no desire to listen to it nowadays.

@livefrommelbs (6.5) - J-Love has a lovely voice, but this is a bit average to these extremely tasteful and learned ears.

@berserkboi (10) - This may be on my Long List of PJ00s entries dddd

@Epic Chocolat (9) - At the top of my 00s pop-rock playlist.

@unnameable (9) - I shudder when I think how expensive the CD of the album was. Damn you overpriced imports!
