Lindsay Lohan - First
20/24
Score: 7.217
My Score: 7.5
Highest: 10 x 4 (@DJHazey, @Milotic, @unnameable, @Music Is Death)
Lowest: 2 x 1 (@berserkboi)
First was the third and final single from Lindsay's debut album Speak. It was released in 2005 to promote her Disney film Herbie: Fully Loaded, and also appeared on its soundtrack. The single failed to chart in the US, however, it was successful in many other countries.
I always thought this song was about her alleged feud with Hilary Duff over Aaron Carter but when I did some research to back up this claim I found literally nothing about it. So I guess not!
@berserkboi (2) - Look at that Skye Sweetnam! You are getting some company in the Negative Vortex!
@Pineapple (6) - Really not my favourite from Lindsay’s debut, but it’s okay. ‘Over’ is so much better.
@livefrommelbs (7.5) - This being here when 'Over' isn't is a bit of an OUTCRY, teebs. I've never liked this one as much as most of the rest of the album.
@saviodxl (8) - I always thought this became a single just to promote the movie it is part of and it works fine for a Disney artist attempt at doing pop rock. But at the same time I live for the guitar riffs in the first seconds of the song and in the post-chorus, and also for Lindsay blond version.
@Memoria (9) - Definitely not my favourite from this album but it's still a bop.
@unnameable (10) - Fantastic opener to a good album.
@DJHazey (10) - If I could give another 11 it’d be for this, if only for the fact that I feel the need eternally apologize to Lindsay for sleeping on her music, like forever. Seriously, I’m like one of the Disney-Pop OGs around here, but it took until the Lindsay/Ashlee rate on this forum for me to dive into her albums. I came out the other side as a changed music listener -- This. Woman. Slays. ‘First’ in particular slaps. In fact, I don’t think I ever recovered my wig since the day I initially played it for that rate.
@Sprockrooster (9) - Her belting in the outro is a match with those roaring guitars is something I am here for! The way she was destroyed in Disney princesses rate was so hurtful I could not bring myself adding her to the zeroes poprock rate. A regret in hindsight. She should have been vindicated. Maybe this rate will do so. I surely hope so.
