Early 2000s Rock Chicks Rate

"Take Me Away" is a damn bop and a 10 for sure. Definitely among my favourites by Fefe and her best song featured here.

And since Fefe lost all three of her songs in this rate, here are my favourite songs form her debut album (which are also my favourite songs by her when we consider her second cancelled album, too).
"Julia", probably my favourite song from the album - a very touching, quite atmospheric and undeniably sad ballad:

"We Went for a Ride", which has a great progression and is such a damn earworm:

"Kiss Me Fool" - a big 'single that never was' moment which turned into a PJ00s nightmare:

A special mention to this rather lovely B-side/bonus track, which definitely deserved a spot on the actual album:

1/5

Score: 8.225

My Score: 9
Highest: 11 x 1 (@theincredibleflipper) 10 x 7 (@Phonetics Girl, @soratami, @yeRleDanaL, @berserkboi, @DJHazey, @ohnostalgia, @Robsolete)
Lowest: 4.5 x 1 (@2014) 5 x 1 (@londonrain)

Overrated was the lead single from Siobhan's debut solo album Revolution in Me. It was released in 2003 and charted at #19 in the UK.

Siobhan Donaghy is an English singer-songwriter most known for being one of the original three members of the British girl group Sugababes, which she left in 2001. In 2013, the original lineup announced they were reforming under the name, Mutya Keisha Siobhan, and released one single called Flatline. We are still waiting for an album...

@saviodxl (6.3) - The "girl from a commercial girlband trying to differentiate herself" does not work here.

@Memoria (7) - I always wanted to like this song more than I actually did. It didn't help that Sugababes were at their absolute peak at the time.

@livefrommelbs (7.5) - I know the gals love Siobhan, but this one's just fine to me.

@Sprockrooster (7.5) - A nice closer for this rate actually.

@Epic Chocolat (9.3) - Nice solo debut.

@berserkboi (10) - Not quite the Siobhan I would grow to stan yet but still perfect!

@DJHazey (10) - Oh my word if this was somehow “Medevac” (hey there’s a video for it, so it should count!) then I’d have to change my 11 as my one chance to stan for it. Still, I’m holding out hope that Siobhan rate is still on the docket. That being said, come on now you’re out of your mind if you don’t think this is also an easy 10+.

@theincredibleflipper (11) - Nice this was included. I loved One Touch as a teenager, it helped me learn English. I was devastated when Siobhan left after she was my favorite from the beginning. Learned about her solo song on a school trip to England, instant buy at the local HMV at Hasting. I was flooded by the depth and intensity. This, her debut and Ghosts are incredible strong works. She deserves the world. And: my ten. Up against those forces like Kelly, Michelle’s first run, Pink, all those gigantic songs that are just perfection. But this is special because it comes from a special place. Didn’t hesitate even the tunest moment when I saw this is here. This is an 11.

I love 'Suddenly I See'. I gave it 9.5, but on the right day it could easily be a 10.

The song was profiled in one of my favorite episodes of Song Exploder. I loved hearing about she created it with the brilliant Steve Osborne (producer of one of the greatest albums ever made.)

From being inspired by a picture of Patti Smith to how the unique way she plays guitar influenced the drum track, it's pretty fascinating breakdown of a song.
