Nobody's Home was Avril's third single from her second album Under My Skin.
It was released in 2004 and charted at #4 in Canada.
The song was co-written by Avril and former Evanescence guitarist, Ben Moody, who also plays guitar on the song.
@Epic Chocolat (8.5) - Favorite part: "broken inside" !
@saviodxl (9.9) - *Tries to enter in a random car when it rains just to recreate the music video*
@berserkboi (10) - A song that gets better with every listen! The emotion, the bite! WOW!
@Memoria (10) - Peak moody Avril.
@Sprockrooster (10) - This song achieved the most 11’s in my poprock rate and for that alone I feel like it should have been the winner of that rate. I mean the sheer power those lyrics and vocals have alongside Ben Moody being the king of gothpoprock in production is simply everything falling into place. I will never not cry when listening to this.
@theincredibleflipper (10) - This is connected to a suicide in my family and it hurts a lot. I also feel weird to rate every single Avril song 10, but that was a single run if I ever saw one.
@livefrommelbs (10) - Man, Avril sings the HELL out of this chorus. Her power has always been in her ability to convey emotion so strongly while still making accessible pop-rock, and 'Nobody's Home' is one of the most faultless examples of that. What a song.
@DJHazey (10) - As you can probably tell by my scores here, my knack for loving buried gems is still present even when we discuss one of my all-time favorite artists. When it comes to Avril’s music, my Top 10 will have songs on it that a lot of people wouldn’t have in their Top 30. I’m only talking about this because I feel like everyone always seems to forget how much of a masterpiece Nobody’s Home is. Among Avril’s songs in this rate, I might say this is the least heralded, especially by casual fans. (Checking my rate I see it finished #8 but again I just don’t feel like it ever gets enough attention!) For me, it’s the one that I’d call an 11 contender. Those opening instrumentals and Avril’s first vocals induce goosebumps every time. It’s amazing to think about what this 19 year old was capable of by bringing something like this to the table. It’s really daring for her to write a song about such a ‘real world’ topic, which hit home for me in many ways so I’ve always felt really close to it. Just imagine the artists who could’ve really impacted the charts even more than Avril did, armed with a weapon like this. It really should be one of the cornerstone chapters when the History of Avril Lavigne hits bookshelves in 2050, but sadly it will be but a footnote.
