Early 2000s Rock Chicks Rate

I've never listened to it, but "Finally Out Of P.E." is kind of an iconic album title. Her reasoning for it is great:
In an interview, Larson, then aged 16, stated, "I think that I write about stuff that others don't write about. I don't have a bunch of love songs cause I don't really have much boy experience. I just write about what I am actually going through in my real life. That's where the title from my album comes from – Finally out of P.E. My P.E. teacher didn't like me at all, which was hard to deal with cause I was usually such a teachers' pet. So when I found out I got my record deal, I was like, 'Yes, I'm finally out of P.E.""

Physical Education. Being forced to exercise by teachers. Please don't ruin a universal experience amongst English-speaking people who weren't keen sports players by telling us that in your country, education includes lots of exercise that kids actually like and it was your favourite part of the day.

We just call it Gym class over here. I loved it to be honest. You just got to play sports all class instead of using your brain. The only thing I hated were the days when we had to run around the track cause that was just torture.

I really need to give Brie's album another listen. Her explanation on how she came up with the title is hilarious.

Songs We Could Have Rated #3

So in an effort to keep the song list as compact as possible, I decided to cut the year off at 2005. Part of the reason was also because I felt like there was a bit of a sonic shift in the pop-rock genre after that year which would make a great rate on it's own. I also felt like going beyond that year would have meant including a dozen more Dr. Luke productions and I didn't really want to open that can of worms.

Miley Cyrus - 7 Things

Although 7 Things came out in 2007 it definitely would have fit in this rate, since it still has that early 2000s sound. I've never really been a fan of Miley to be honest, I remember being like 15-16 and walking by my younger brother watching Hannah Montana for the first time, thinking she was really annoying and deciding then and there that I didn't like her, thus avoiding her at all costs for years to come dd. Very dramatic looking back but 2 years or so ago I was at Karaoke with my friends singing classics by Avril and Alanis etc. as you do. And near the end of the night when we were all many many drinks in someone put this song on and literally every one of my friends got so hype singing it. And I was just standing there like I don't know this song... I kinda felt like I had missed out on something. By the end of the song I was like yeah this does bop, maybe ya'll were onto something.

Disney Stars

So similarly to Miley, Demi, Selena and the whole Camp Rock gang were a bit after my time so i'm not very familiar with their music either. But I would always hear about how all of these girls' early songs were very Pop-rock. So I did a little investigating, and found a couple songs that probably would have fit the rate had I gone beyond 2005. This Is Me by Demi Lovato ft. Joe Jonas is one of them. Another could have been One and The Same by Demi Lovato & Selena Gomez, which I discovered in this funny exchange in the Demi thread.

Emma Roberts - Dummy

On the other side of the child star spectrum, we've got Nickelodeon actress Emma Roberts, with her very own Pop-rock single from the soundtrack to her show "Unfabulous" that she definitely did not land for being Julia Roberts' niece and the daughter of the guy from those Mariah Carey videos. Speaking of Nickelodeon, the Zoey 101 theme song, Follow Me by Jamie Lynn Spears ft. Britney Spears is definitely a pop-rock classic that deserves to be shouted out.

Brie Larson - Life After You

As @unnameable reminded us earlier today, Brie Larson is another actress who had a short lived singing career when she was younger. According to wikipedia she released 2 singles from the album. She Said which is a bit more pop-y and Life After You which definitely would have fit the rate.

Hope Partlow - Sick Inside

After I checked out Brie's album today, I noticed another name in the similar artists section that looked familiar kind of? The name rings a bell but the songs definitely didn't. Hope Partlow released one album in 2005 and not much else it seems according to a quick google search. But her single Sick Inside, which features Zac Efron in the music video, probably could have fit the rate as well. That and her other single Who We Are, which was apparently covered by The Cheetah Girls on one of their albums.

I'm working on it! It doesn't help that my first session was sitting there and doing the 7 Avril Lavigne songs for like two hours alone.

I've reached that part of the Canadian list that @soratami was referring to I'm afraid. I foresee a lot of elimination in a row, kii.

On the 'Songs We Could Rated' post. I'm one of the Disney OG's here and Demi, Miley and to a lesser extent Selegend all had some rock slays in their day for sure. Some of the best examples from their debuts - @slaybellz if you haven't heard them before, you're welcome!

(I think you'd love Demi's second album here We Go Again, especially a buried gem like "Stop The World")

The best Disney 'rock' album in my opinion will always be Guilty Pleasure though. I mean come on, this album opener is S Tier pop-rock no matter what names you want to compare it with.

Songs We Could Have Rate #4

So certain artists in the rate actually released multiple albums within the period of eligibility I set. Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch and Lindsay Lohan are the only artists in the rate who are represented by tracks from 2 different albums.

The songs below are songs that probably should have been included in the rate, since they fit the eligibility period, the sound of the rate and were pretty popular. But ultimately I thought the songs I chose by those artists just fit better.

P!nk - Trouble

From P!nk's 2003 album Try This.

Ashlee Simpson - Boyfriend

From Ashlee Simpson's 2005 album I Am Me.

Hilary Duff - Fly

From Hilary Duff's self titled album released in 2004.

Bif Naked - Let Down

From Bif Naked's 2005 album Superbeautifulmonster.

Poor Last To Know. It deserves a shout out as well!

What are some other female lead pop-rock groups or duos from the early 2000s that you remember?
Honestly insulted no one mentioned these queens:

And maybe I should listen to Brie's album. Iconic title. I hated P.E., especially since my classmates always took it too seriously, and the coaches still tried to give us like actual assignments. Annoying as fuck.

Also, @slaybellz you should definitely listen to Miley's Breakout, Demi's Don't Forget and Here We Go Again, and Ashley's Guilty Pleasure. All great pop-rock albums, I don't care what anyone else says. Actually, Selena's Kiss & Tell is very pop-rock as well, so give that a listen too!

Also, now is a good time to mention that we are approaching the FINAL WEEK for eligibility to vote in part 2 of my Miley rate! Please come and join the chaos!

He/Him
DONE and VOTED! I knew even more music than I thought I did so this really was a no brainer to participate in! I thought @slaybellz blocked me from voting for a second due to my unpopular opinions in the thread but turns out I was just trying to look at their profile instead of starting a convo! Ddd (never change, Berserky!)

On to the xx or PJSC next!
