Early 2000s Rock Chicks Rate

Songs We Could Have Rated #6 - Part 1

Another batch of songs we could have rated. All pretty big singles taken from the same albums I pulled from, but ultimately just missed out to make room for the singles I thought were bigger or better.

Kelly Clarkson - Walk Away

Lindsay Lohan - Over

Hilary Duff - Why Not

Liz Phair - Extraordinary

Ashlee Simpson - Shadow

All of these would’ve gotten very high marks from me. Extraordinary and Why Not especially!

I think "Over" just drags on, I know unpopular opinion. Those who love it should be thanking their lucky stars because in a rate like this I'd probably be inclined to hand out like a 4 to it. That song is part of the reason I never got into her music until late as it was one of her hits and I was always like "no thanks".

Thank goodness "Shadow" was not chosen either.

"Walk Away" is that bop however, stands the test of time more than Kelly's two biggies in the rate actually and I like "Why Not" more than "So Yesterday".

This concludes the latest edition of Hazey Breaks Hearts With His Opinions. Thank you.

Songs We Could Have Rated #6 - Part 2

For Part 2 we have some more singles from the albums I pulled from but didn't quite make it by our Canadian artists.

Avril Lavigne - He Wasn't

He Wasn't was the second last single from Under My Skin? Apparently Fall To Pieces was actually the last single of the era but I have no recollection of this whatsoever so this is news to me dd. I never really connected with He Wasn't, for me Avril had a perfect run of singles from the debut on until this one. And looking at it's chart position it kinda did flop comparatively to her previous singles.

Chantal Kreviazuk - Weight Of The World

Another single from Chantal's album I remember hearing on the radio back in the day but I don't think it was as big as the other two and this one's a lot more Adult Contemporary while the other two could pass for pop-rock.

Amanda Marshall - Everybody's Got A Story

This one was actually the only Amanda Marshall song I knew before doing my research for the rate. But it's definitely more pop than pop-rock, so I had a listen to her album and found some great discoveries that fit the rate a bit more.

Fefe Dobson - Don't Let It Go To Your Head

I actually forgot Don't Let It Go To Your Head was released in 2005 and would have been eligible for this rate. This one was not from her debut but the lead single from her cancelled sophomore album, Sunday Love, which was officially released in 2012. After her 2010 album JOY, so technically it's her third album? Sunday Love did leak in 2006 though, so i'm not sure if fans consider it her sophomore album or not.

Turns out there’s a lot of new discoveries for me in this rate and I don’t want to dismiss them after just 1 listen so I’m taking a bit of extra time to get my scores in.

Not to mention I’m finding it brutal to pick which song gets an 11...
