EastEnders

It’s been far from its best of late but I am quite enjoying Cindy running into a room and accusing whoever is there that they walloped her at Christmas and then ten minutes later accusing someone else. Camp Queen.
Be funny if they all conspired to do it together.

Except billy no mates Ian who had the biggest motive to do it.

Oh and let's not forget when she thought she'd killed Pauline in 2006/2007!

That last video just reminds me of the extent to which they ruined the character of Pauline.

Most egregiously in writing her a storyline where she lied about having a brain tumour - given Wendy Richard's well publicised battles with cancer in real life, this was pretty distasteful.

Her exit was awful, I'm pretty sure she even spoke about hating it at the time? They definitely ruined her character by the end (I actually didn't know that she actually had cancer in real life though which makes it even worse).

Wendy was incredibly annoyed by them having Pauline remarry. She was adamant that the character would never do this, which is part of the reason she quit.

“She would have remained a widow, sitting in that chair in the corner. That's what Julia Smith wanted, and that's what I felt was right, so I resigned”

She asked producers not to turn Pauline nasty before her exit, but these requests were also ignored.

Pauline’s exit was shown not long ago on U&Drama, so that whole storyline is still quite fresh in my mind. For a while, Sonia was banged-up in prison in both that one and current EastEnders. Pauline had turned a corner, leaving a voicemail for Martin where she realised what she’d done and wanted to make amends. It was too late though as he only heard the message after she’d died.

I always wondered if Wendy claimed she quit over Pauline remarrying to hide the real reason - her cancer had returned. She died just two years and two months after Pauline did.

Not sure how realistic the idea of Pauline remaining a widow and “sitting in that chair” would have been. Martin was leaving, as was Sonia, and therefore she had no family left in Walford other than Ian. They might have hoped that by remarrying it would give the character a renewed sense of purpose, as it did for Dot.

I believe part of it was also that she didn't get on too well with Ray Brooks.
I'm sure there was an interview about it at the time.

She was then diagnosed with cancer again in 2008 (or at least she didn't reveal it until then)

is Natalie Cassidy hinting at Sonia’s demise?

"I’ve got to remember in my head that when, as an actress, you make a decision to leave a show like this, you can’t hypothesise or worry about what’s going to happen to your character," said Cassidy.

"That is down to the boss and the storyliners as the fate of Sonia is in their hands. I’ve had to take a deep breath, and go, 'I’ve made my decision, I’ve just got to let it play out'."

Surely not? They must have learnt some lessons from Kathy and Cindy. Natalie has left before and come back. Or maybe they think that, having killed Kathy and Cindy off only to find a way to bring them back later, they could potentially do the same with Sonia?

He/They
They wouldn't kill off a pregnant Sonia, surely let her flee to raise her baby in peace once Reiss is finally caught out.
