Looks like Eastenders has won the battle of the 7:30 soaps as Emmerdale is set to move to 8pm.
What happens to Coronation Street then? That’s on at 8pm on three nights. I don’t watch either of them but I was concerned that having EastEnders opposite Emmerdale might harm them both.

They should bring both Emmerdale and Corrie down to no more than five half-hour episodes a week. I’d say four but it’s ITV and they’ve got little else to put on.

Both are going to 5x30m Monday to Friday 8/8:30pm

How is the show going to resolve the Denise/Ravi/Jack vote when they film weeks in advance? Surely they don't have two sets of Denise/Ravi and Denise/Jack scenes and they'll just throw out one or the other? Or they keep them off screen for several weeks so they have time to film new scenes? Really curious how they make it 'seamless'.

I think they will have two slightly different scripts for the live show depending on the result and then the relationship will be off screen until filming catches up unless they film some alternative scenes to drop in depending on the vote. Either way, the relationship won’t be a big focus in the short term.

I said this in the Corrie thread but I have to laugh at ITV giving up on having Emmerdale going head-to-head with EastEnders at 7.30pm now that they're haemorrhaging viewers at a much faster pace. They really tried to finish EastEnders off when it was at its lowest (fat, nasty, broke, career in shambles - the Six came on the 2023 Christmas ep mad as hell!!) and I love to see them backing down.

The move should be good for the health of all the soaps, so I'm pleased it's happening. And I pray for Corrie fans that with the schedule change/episode reduction comes some better content - but given that they're already teasing big stunts for when the changes are implemented I don't have faith the ITV soaps are going to improve any time soon.
