EastEnders

I'm ready for these current stories to be wrapped up and to move onto the new writers. Every now and then we get a strong episode but I don't find myself invested in the stories anymore. In particular, I feel the Cindy attack mystery has fallen flat and I'm beyond ready for Reiss to get his comeuppance. I hope the anniversary allows them to really move things forward.

That scene was nothing short of incredible - probably one of the best scenes I've ever seen on the show, so raw and real, Steve McFadden is just phenomenal.
The amount of history drawn on (35? years of Phil) and every moment of it paid off in that scene. Instantly one of if not the best character moments seen on the show. It can be frustrating that the soaps don't always utilise their unique position in having so much history with their characters, but EastEnders is probably the best at doing it and has a cast with the ability to knock it out of the part.

Steve McFadden high key one of the best actors we've ever produced as a country!!

Yeah last night was amazing. Not only Steve McFadden but Jamie Winstone has got Barbara's Peggy down without feeling like an impersonation. The young Phil (especially as we saw more of him) and Grant were so good too! Although I struggled to comprehend how Jay could have left Phil after he opened up more to him in that conversation than I imagine he's ever done and was obviously not OK. I love how we can go from the ridiculous campy Reiss and Cindy sagas to an episode which is so affecting. The range!
