I had a little dive back into her discography recently and she really did get unfair dismissal for the GP-catering tracks like 'Hate Me', 'Easy Lover', 'Close to Me' - they still absolutely slap. The fact she knows her way around crafting hits but also the songwriter deep cuts - TALENT.
I don't think she copped any heat for Easy Lover dd. It went down fine although probably not the best lead single they could've gone with.

I still go back to Higher Than Heaven a lot. It's probably her most cohesive work since Halcyon. Title track is a dreeeeam.

It’s wonderful. Really sleek pop done well and with one of my favorite vocalists in modern pop.

Speaking of Halcyon, you want an experience? Put on all two hours (!) of Halcyon Nights and transcend.

Absolutely agree!

Easy Lover really wasn’t a good bridge point going from her EG.0 material to Higher Than Heaven. Why start a whole new album campaign using its only rap collab after the negative fan feedback from the previous era?

Followed by delays and ultimately a 9 month space between Easy Lover and Higher Than Heaven (and weirdly a video for a bonus song?), the album’s campaign (and limited tour) seemed secondary to Miracle’s success. I’m glad I got to go to KOKO but nothing about the rollout and choices for it were super beneficial for its long term viability.

The songs deserved so much better and like always, the deluxe tracklisting are some of her best.
