  3. Radio is erratic, which is why most threads don't bother with daily updates. Songs can lose spins for days at a time and then start gaining massively. A few days of so-so or negative updates aren't the end of the world, and they certainly don't mean the song is dead or done growing. In terms of streaming, I'm honestly surprised this song stuck around the top 50 for as long as it did with so little push. I think everyone involved has to be pretty happy with the performance given that it's gotten so little attention from Britney herself.
  4. Elton John's husband David Furnish has nothing but praise for Britney Spears on the heels of their hit, No. 1 collaboration "Hold Me Closer."

ET caught up with Furnish at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. for the HISTORYTalks 2022 event where he detailed John and Spears' experience recording the track and their plans to celebrate in the future.

"That's the first record she's put out in six years," Furnish said. "She went into the studio and she delivered fantastic vocals."

Explaining how Spears was able to take control of her sound for the first time in over a decade, Furnish said, "She was quite specific about what she liked, what she wanted and how she wanted it to sound. And she gave terrific notes."

"She's very much in control and embracing her destiny, which is exactly what you want"

Furnish continued to share his and John's excitement for Britney as she finds her footing back in the music world. "Elton's hope is that she will get the courage now to deepen into music more. I think it's really scary when you're away from something for a very long time. It's quite daunting, and so he hopes this is the step and a baby step onto a path that sees her out doing great records again and maybe even performing," Furnish said.

As far as celebrating the success of "Hold Me Closer," Furnish says when he and John are next in California they plan to see Spears.

"We haven't been able to celebrate with Britney 'cause she's been in America and we haven't come to that side of America yet, but when we get to the West Coast we're really looking forward to getting together," Furnish said.

  5. I think it'll get back in the Top 50 later this week. Sunday's are always brutal for this song, and pretty much every song of this nature unless they're absolute smash hits. The fact it went up 21 spots in the US betwen Thursday and Saturday is a good sign. It's still Top 40 on global Apple Music, so there's that.

    Some good news:

  6. As a UK stan it's immensely satisfying to see this back at #1 on UK airplay overall and #1 across the big stations such as Heart and Capital FM, pushing out the likes of Lewis and Harry's. I mean, Britney getting up to 300+ spins daily is something I never thought I'd see - my country really said let's repent over the horrific treatment radio gave her from Femme Fatale onwards.
  7. Something I keep noticing as well is that they keep refering to it as a Britney song nn
  8. They really need to release a solo edits. The one criticism I see over and over (even if I think its a bit exaggerated) is that people feel you can barely hear her. A Britney solo edit would give it a significant boost in streaming. I don't think it will out peak its debut position. But if this song is gonna get any sort of boost I think thats the form it has to come in.
  9. That's a criticism I don't get at all. I hear Britney far clearer than I hear muffled RoboElton throughout the entire song, besides obviously his two solo lines. I do however love the idea that Britney agrees that she's not front and cente enough on the track and was so adament about adlibbing the fuck out of it just to prove a point.

  15. Purple Disco Machine remixing this is the next best thing if we aren't getting Pnau. Very excited to hear that and Joel Corry should deliver too.

The video was... a video, I guess. Unsure of the replay value in that, but I guess it will give streams a big bump for a day or two until the general public realise the two artists are not featured.
  16. Bought the bundle!
