En Vogue

These women need to be in the conversation more when talking about iconic 90s acts. We would not have TLC or Destiny's Child without En Vogue and they have at least 5 stone cold classic smashes to their name. Their harmonies and ad libs remain untouched and I wished they were as revered and respected as they deserve. They are pound for pound the best female group in terms of vocal ability.

I listened to Hold On on a 90s RnB playlist (my favorite) and I got my life. MY LIFE.

I was happy to see this tour is coming to my city. Just disappointed I have to sit through the other two groups. I don't know a single New Kids On the Block song lol. Should still be fun though! I hope they're recording new music during all this. They look too good and perform too well not to give us another album.

With Dawn and Maxine the group is the summit of girlgroup vocals. Their untouchable, airkiss finesse made them leaders of the pack. Just a shame there is so much insecurity and bitterness among the original 4. I simply do not rate the current line-up, of which can only simulate the original line-up and don't really deserve to coast on nostalgia when they actively sabotage the other 2, who are ironically the better singers.

I do like Envogue as a foursome. How I would love Maxine to be back with Cindy, Terry, and Rhona. I adore Dawn, and she has some great points about how she was treated wrongly, but the relationships with her and the ladies is too fractured. I always hold out hope that Maxine and the ladies can build a bridge.
Do you know of a good source that concisely gives Dawn’s perspective, or (even better) all of the members’? Just curious because all I’ve ever known is that they busted up, but none of the details.

So happy I got to see the original four years ago even though my stoner friend was running late and we missed Never Gonna Get It. Obviously we’re no longer friends.

We’ve discussed Dawn’s behaviour at some length in this thread.

En Vogue have released seven full-length albums. Dawn is only on the first two of them. She might be part of the lineup you love most but it definitely isn’t the case that En Vogue cannot or should not exist without her, especially when she’s repeatedly shown she is willing to drop them whenever she feels like it. Plus the group really doesn’t need her anti-vax energy.

Maxine, on the other hand - I miss her in the group, and she was with them for all their Hot 100-charting singles, so yeah, I’d love to see her rejoin (even though the relationship is probably too far gone now). But Rhona has been integral to the group for almost 20 years now, so I’d never make the mistake of assuming that she is dispensable.
