ff I honestly feel bad for her whenever Saddle Up! is mentioned because she's so embarrassed by it, but god it bangs. I deeply wish SOPHIE was around to get her vocals on a track (I am aware I say this about every vocalist in existence but like...imagine her soundscapes and melodic ear, which are already impressive, with SOPHIE's sound design...absolutely unstoppable)

I know it's not the same but a sonic soundscape a là Pang via Big Danny could be a stunning affair.

Nothing I can say of the Omeara show that @Butterfly hasn't already said. She was amazing!
Being in a room where everybody belts out her songs with her was beautiful to see - Especially during 'Sun -Bleached Flies' when fans were giving her flowers as well.
Kavari, the opening DJ set, couldn't have been more left of what Ethel's set delivers, but that... couldn't have been a more Ethel Cain thing to do. She had some fantastic glitch-goth mixes going.

The scream I let out when she said that.
And the side-eye I gave the straight couple in front of me who had no idea what a twink was.

A short and sweet set, but that definitely worked in my favour since I made it to Victoria Coach station with minutes to spare. Gutted I had to miss out on meeting her though.

I hate the Lana comparisons but the mini set definitely gave me vibes of the eight or nine song mini gigs Lana Del Rey did in Europe right after releasing Blue Jeans and Video Games. I caught the show in Paris and the whole thing was just electric. It definitely left everyone wanting more. Which is very smart!

If by Lana comparison you mean she will inevitably have as equally as annoying and psychotic fanbase that makes live experience insufferable as Lana’s…. I shudder.

Who are you listening to at the moment?
The Bones And All soundtrack, Brian Eno, The Fray, Bryan Adams, Sarah McLochlan, Lighthouse, Avril Lavigne, Goo Goo Dolls, you know, all those classic acts from the 2000s. And Grouper, of course. Grouper always and forever. All of these are kind of inspo for the next album.

Oooh, and what is the moodboard for the next album?
So I can’t say too much about it, but it’s colder, it’s not like that sweaty heap of the Ethel Cain trilogy, it’s very cold, very bleak, and it’s gonna be fun. Maybe less punishing than Preacher’s Daughter is. It’ll appeal to a different audience, so I’m excited to explore a new sound.

On the Preacher’s Trilogy:

Can we expect any more cannibalism from Ethel in the future?
Not cannibalism, per se. Maybe outside of Ethel. Like, we haven’t even scratched the surface of female rage just quite yet. Because Ethel, the daughter, is definitely the victim and the unfortunate sacrifice, but we haven’t even gotten into the boss lady yet, the bloodshed is coming. It’s not from the daughter but it is in the family tree and it is in the bloodline, so it’s coming and I’m really excited.

Everyone’s always like “We love the record but we wish it was less indie pop, we want it to be more like ‘Ptolemaea’,” but for Ethel it didn’t make sense because she was a teenager in the 90s, she wants to have a good time and is sad and desperate and kind of weak, honestly. But the darkness, grittiness, anger and frenetic female rage is coming.

It wasn’t right for this album, but it’s coming, in full. I can’t wait to get to the darkest story, which is coming.
