Eurovision 2011 Finalists Rate (THE RESULTS)

Re: Eurovision 2011 Top 15 Rate

Whether or not non-Eurovision countries will be allowed to vote will depend entirely on whether I deem MollieSwift's rating of Germany to be acceptable or not. If the rule DOES come into affect, a special allowance will be made for Australia because they care more for Eurovision than CERTAIN COUNTRIES (which shall remain nameless!) that actually DO vote.

EDIT: I can now confirm that non-Eurovision countries WILL have their votes counted.

But people didn't want them to be too long if there's going to be a rate for each year.

Then 'people' are idiots.

If we are going to do Eurovision for each year we should do 'Eurovision' for each year not a completely arbitrary Top 15.

I mean what's the hurry? I suppose we're simply making way for a 'Lady Gaga's Wigs Rate' or 'Britney's Boyfriends'.

A Taylor Swift boyfriend rate would be more interesting!

Is it possible in the future to do it in the way Eurovison works where people give scores of 12,10,8, 7,6,5,4,3,2,1. Don't know how much more work that would be on the person doing it though.

People said it would be too exhaustive. We can always expand the Eurovision rates in the future but it might be too late to expand this one. Should I anticipate votes off you Baby Clyde?

Funny, I was just thinking that earlier today! I do still like the rating out of 10 but putting it in the Eurovision format would be cool too. I wouldn't mind compiling both (and if people want to do it for this contest I wouldn't complain!) but people might not want to vote with both methods. People are lazy.

I think it would be nice twist and then better view of what songs were the best without the large amount of work of having to go through every song (If you have already watched it!). But yeah I don't know if everyone would want to send their votes in again.

Re: Eurovision 2011 Top 15 Rate

To include all the songs in the final and change the voting system would be to basically restart the rate so I'd like to have the opinions of everyone who's voted so far at least before we make any decisions.

Pros of changing to the Eurovision system:
More similar to the real thing
Revealing the results will have a flashy scoreboard (provided Charley! links me to the one he uses!)

Cons:
Results are over in a flash
People have to vote again

POTENTIAL COMPROMISE:
Give scores out of 10 AND rate them the Eurovision way. Results get revealed in the standard Singles Rate way followed by the Eurovision scoreboard thing. I wouldn't really be a fan of doing that myself.

Personally I'm in favour of the Eurovision way but I wouldn't be comfortable starting this again without the support of the people who've already went to the bother to vote so please give your opinion!!

Re: Eurovision 2011 Top 15 Rate

I personally would definitely like to do it the way Eurovision does it. The compromise sounds like a good idea too.

Re: Eurovision 2011 Top 15 Rate (POTENTIAL IMPORTANT CHANGES HAPPENING)

I hadn't thought this through properly.

I just assumed we'd be scoring 1 - 12 in the Eurovison fashion not how it was going to be revealed, in fact I'm confused just thinking about it (Why would it all be over in a flash?)

I'm perfectly happy to do whatever everyone else wants to do.

We are. I guess we COULD reveal things in the same way but I figured we'd reveal them in a scoreboard to make it closer to Eurovision.

Stratus have you PMed the other people that have voted to see what they think since there's hasn't been that much feedback in thread? I really want to do it the Eurovision way haha!

Re: Eurovision 2011 Top 15 Rate (POTENTIAL IMPORTANT CHANGES HAPPENING)

I love the idea of voting Eurovision style as long as all the songs that were in the final are included, so we can voted for our favourites from the final!

I can redo mine if that's the way we're doing it.

Let me know!

Re: Eurovision 2011 Top 15 Rate (POTENTIAL IMPORTANT CHANGES HAPPENING)

But if we do do it Euovision style it would still be countdown wouldn't it???

Re: Eurovision 2011 Top 15 Rate (POTENTIAL IMPORTANT CHANGES HAPPENING)

I'd prefer it that way, I don't see why it can't be?

Re: Eurovision 2011 Top 15 Rate (POTENTIAL IMPORTANT CHANGES HAPPENING)

Tell me what y'all suggest because I don't see it. Do you want me to post everyone's scores individually and post an Excel leaderboard alongside them? Because I was going to use Charley!'s online scoreboard thing which is like the Eurovision leaderboard but finishes in like a minute.

I'm going to PM everyone who sent in scores now and ask if they mind changing to the Eurovision method of scoring anyway.

Re: Eurovision 2011 Top 15 Rate (POTENTIAL IMPORTANT CHANGES HAPPENING)

I just need clarification before I PM I've rated using the points system and obviously there are songs left with no points (i.e. the songs I don't like and my own country as you can't vote for your own country) are those going to be treated as having nil points?

I prefer the online scoreboard it would look better if it's like the real thing.

Oh I think you should be able to vote or your own country otherwise doesn't that put UK at major disadvantage here?
