Eurovision Song Contest 2015

Discussion in 'Eurovision' started by WowWowWowWow, Aug 22, 2014.

  1. Well, we might as well get this started, since the rumors and reflections are already beginning. (The Eurovision 2014 thread was opened in June 2013 so we are already behind schedule!)

Grand final in Vienna on 23 May 2015!

After coming second in Copenhagen, the big rumor for the Netherlands at the moment is one Alain Clark.

I understand not messing with success, but I wish the Netherlands would consider sending someone uptempo. Sharon Doorson anyone?

Over in Sweden, the eight finalists for Svensktoppen Nästa have been announced, with the winning act guaranteed a spot in the contest to follow in the illustrious footsteps of Terese Fredenwall and EKO...

    Never too early!

I've also heard Dotan being mentioned for The Netherlands, but that might also simply be because he has a massive hit in The Netherlands and Belgium right now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2ZB7WF_Hko

  4. Inna needs to do this for Romania. She's in need of an extra push nowadays and a hit to represent the new album.

  5. If Winny Puhh doesn't get a chance to represent Estonia, I shall be extremely disappointed.

  6. I wonder if the disappointment in Molly's result has put the BBC off sending completley unknown acts in the future? I hope not...

  7. I hope whatever they choose it's a lot more instant than 'Children of the Universe'. It was great song but it's a grower, which isn't right for Eurovision

  9. I still think that the reason why UK underperformed in 2014 was because although the song was big and impactful, the staging and production let it down and it just felt flat. That paired with the fact that Molly didn't really sound too great, which was a shame because we'd heard her sing live much better before that. Perhaps nerves got to her.

  10. I saw a video for Bearforce One's 'Action Man' reportedly for Switzerland but I can't find it now. It was horrific though.

  11. Trijntje Oosterhuis has been confirmed as the Dutch entry for 2015, with a song written by Anouk.

An example of a song written by Anouk for Trijntje:

  12. Warrior by Amber is my 100% choice for Malta's choice in 2015 and a fan favourite. Fandango by Jessika is pretty good, too. I guess we'll find out on the 22nd!

I really do hope the UK pulls something amazing out of the bag also. It's been way too long since we did anything remotely significant in Eurovision and it's about time we host again. I imagine the BBC would pull out all the stops a la Dusseldorf 2011.

  13. And once again, as many countries already have their plans in place for a selection process of some kind, or have even picked their song already, we know nothing about the UK's plans. But who needs months of pre-Contest gossip and debate?

  14. Tickets on sale Monday - I want to go for the first time next year, going to try and get final tickets. Will £200 each cover it?

  15. For the final, limited view seats are about £33, with additional price points at £77, £175, £230, and best seats £309 according to this website and my quick Google conversions.

  16. congratulations to everyone who managed to buy tickets today!

  17. Apparently only 25% of the tickets went on sale yesterday! Yikes. Discovering that the Oeticket website was geoblocked to only EBU countries was quite a surprise as well.
