I have this sweater for Christmas and another one which says Ho Ho Ho (and I stitched mo) to the end of it.

Does anyone have any tips for new / funny / gay sweaters? Order online or have a store that's in the Netherlands so I can fit. Preferably, not too expensive stuff? Would be cool.
  2. don't wear 'em
  3. I can’t dress well to save my life. Woe is me.
  4. The easiest way around this if you're shopping online is to take a look at the 'style with ...' section most clothes websites have. You probably own similar items already, you just need to match them up.

Well give us a little more to go on! If you’re looking to improve your style, that is. There’s a lot of good people with every type of budget here.
  6. I back this up a lot, it's a great way to get some of the basic things right (e.g. shoes to go with shirts etc.)

What I need to start doing is owning some better trousers. I wear black jeans with everything, so I'm going to invest in some different coloured jeans, chinos etc before venturing into the things I'd consider more out there (checkered chinos).
  7. Me. Too. Black jeans with 95% of what I wear.

  9. I went on a thrifting venture this weekend (it was 50% off all clothes and I was procrastinating grad-school work) and I found 15 articles of clothing that totaled up to 42 bucks; this doesn't happen often as I'm pretty damn short (5'2") so finding thrifted goods that are "small" is pretty rare for me. I was also complimented by some folks for my "clean fit," which I've never heard before so that was nice to hear.

A couple of the items purchased:

  10. Can’t say I’m crazy about the clothes but you’re super cute!

  12. So my hair is starting to thin and I just bought this hair fiber stuff from Amazon to see if it's any good at hiding some of the weaker parts. I'm getting old now. Has anyone on here tried it?

There are two investment pieces, a blazer and a jacket, that have been severely discounted, but I really shouldn’t be spending on one, let alone two big purchases right now. The self-manufactured drama!

  15. You've already gotten some good advice, but learning what fits is essential. You'll always go through phases with colors and patterns, but knowing what shapes compliment your body and what you feel comfortable with will make things a lot easier. I'd say fabrics are also key; what kind of material is right for you? Do you appreciate the comfy and relaxed look of linen and cotton, or do you feel better with something like poplin, which gives a more dressed look?
  16. Just being confident can carry practically everything.
I've run into @HeartSwells at gigs and nights out and I've been in everything from racey gay t-shirt & jeans to gay statement sweatshirt and short shorts to full lace floral shirts and white trousers to full glitter short boiler suits and he should be able to attest that I'm 100% down for all of them.
If you're not confident in _anything_, then some moral support will help. Find a friend to help you. This friend needs to be one who'll say "no you look terrible in that NEXT", not someone who tries to find the positive in everything.
+ Here's where a lot of people fall down when they look for help. If you have a stylish or fearless clothing friend but don't necessarily want to look like them, heads up, that person will still know style things to help you.
    ++ Buy clothes that fit.
  17. Post your best Black Friday clothing sales please gwerls. I was going to go in on ASOS' sale and then realised it, as ever, required three hours of browsing through absolute shit to find anything decent.

NOT me losing out on a blazer I’ve had my eye on for months, which had been criminally discounted, because I’m just too gun shy these days.

I need my inner Vas and Nunya to JUMP out.
  19. BUT how discounted is "criminally discounted"
