Fiction of the Fix: The Fiona Apple Discography Rate (WINNER REVEALED, THANKS GUYS!)

I tell you how I feel but you don't care,
I say tell me the truth but you don't dare.
You say love is a hell you cannot bear,
and I say give me mine back and then go there,
for all I care.

Welcome to Fiction of the Fix: The Fiona Apple Discography Rate!

In case you don't know because you've been living under a rock for the last 20 years (or because you've put me on your ignore list), Fiona Apple is a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter who first burst onto the scene in 1996 with her debut album "Tidal" in 1996. The album was a big commercial success in the US, thanks in part to the hit single "Criminal" and its controversial music video.

Her subsequent albums were all released to great critical praise, making her one of the most acclaimed artists of our generation. Fiona has also established a strong and devoted fan base, despite the fact that she takes her time with releasing new music. "I will only write if I absolutely have to", she once explained in an interview. "If I'm having a good time and I'm enjoying myself, why would I stop doing what I'm doing to go sit at the piano?" Fair enough.

Here is the list of songs that I want you to rate:

Let me know if any of the links aren't working for you and I will try to replace them. Some of the YouTube videos aren't exactly "high quality" so I'd recommend listening to the albums on Spotify or actually buying them. You probably won't regret it.

As always, please rate each song on a scale from 0 (who are we kidding here?) to 10. Half points (7.5, 9.5 ...) and, in an effort to avoid too many ties, quarter points (8.25, 9.75 ...) are allowed and commentary is highly encouraged! I will leave the voting open until Sunday, 22 February 2015. I think that should give new listeners enough time to get familiar with Fiona's discography.

Thanks in advance to everyone who participates!

Huh, the album I'm least fond of is "Extraordinary Machine." Is that weird? I think "Tidal" is probably my favorite, with "When The Pawn..." a close second, and "The Idler Wheel..." not far behind that.

I'm glad those bonus tracks are in! I like them all, but especially "Why Try To Change Me Now?"

Re: Fiction of the Fix: The Fiona Apple Discography Rate (VOTE NOW!)

Speaking of bonus tracks, I've also added "So Sleepy" and "Pure Imagination" which I forgot about for a minute.

Re: Fiction of the Fix: The Fiona Apple Discography Rate (VOTE NOW!)

Is the theme song she did for The Affair worth including?

I can add it if you want, but it's only like 80 seconds long. I've heard that a full version of it exists, but I don't think it's available anywhere (yet).

Ah, I don't mind its exclusion then, I was just curious.

So excited. Queen.

I will be stanning for... a lot of these songs actually.

Re: Fiction of the Fix: The Fiona Apple Discography Rate (VOTE NOW!)

When the Pawn is my favourite album ever. FYI. Extraordinary Machine is in my top 5 ever. Confession: I gave both albums all 10s.

Why isn't she revered at Bob Dylan levels? Maybe in time she will be?

My averages so far:
Tidal - 7.4
When The Pawn - 8.2
Extraordinary Machine - 6.8

Re: Fiction of the Fix: The Fiona Apple Discography Rate (VOTE NOW!)

Fiona's Pure Imagination is heartstoppingly good.

I definitely thing each album has been better than the last, I'm interested to see what my averages will be

Re: Fiction of the Fix: The Fiona Apple Discography Rate (VOTE NOW!)

I think Every Single Night is the soundtrack to my life.

She actually is extremely extremely accessible and her songs lodge on your brain in only one listen why on Gods earth did record labels reject Extraordinary Machine?
