Bienvenue à tous to the French Divas Rate! Featuring around 50 different artists mostly from France, Belgium and Canada, with songs ranging from 1947 to last month, this rate is dedicated to the wonderful ladies of the francophone music world, represented here with everything from Eurovision classics to 90s R&B jams to (and mostly that, as this is PopJustice after all) all manner of wonderful BOPS. Coming up with a song list for this rate was hard, given there's just so much to choose from, but I tried to make a selection based on popularity, quality, variety and PJ-friendliness. I'd also like to thank @berserkboi, @londonrain, @WowWowWowWow, @Riiiiiiiii, @Sprockrooster, @Conan, @Empty Shoebox and @Island for all their wonderful suggestions, and also to the people who entered some of these songs on various song contests. Of course not every suggestion could be included, but we are rating a lot of them. I genuinelly think there isn't one bad song here, and hopefully everyone else will enjoy them too. Sensualité is on Spotify here too but it's actually the accoustic version, even if it doesn't state that. I'd rather people not rate that one by mistake!
A lot of these were in song contests. One is actually in the current round of PJOPS, but it's not mine, it's just a coincidence.
I don't know if them being included here makes me any more or less likely to send them. I'm still terrified that I'll get the same result as last time.
I wanted to go with acts whose output is mostly in French, that's why I didn't include her. Still, I'm not opposed to adding a couple of songs to the list if people think there are any glaring omissions
If anyone's scared by the ballads section, let me just say they definitely aren't boring ballads. It's actually more of a group of slower/more emotional songs, and even calling some of them ballads is a bit of a stretch. A few of them definitely bop.
I thought it'd be fun to include her covers of French classics that also have their original versions in the rate. Definitely curious to see which versions will do better. And I was trying to avoid having more than 5 songs per act. That's why poor Oui Mais... Non had to be cut.
