General K-Pop Rants/complaints/unpopular opinions

I love how Twice never bothered with debuting a unit.

Same. I actually hate that some of new groups just do it for the sake of doing it. I personally think a unit should be made when they can offer something new and fresh from the original group's material. Something like Orange Caramel or TTS.

But honestly what was the point of Pristin V and Ogugu? I'm not denying their quality, they both released good material but they weren't very well thoughtout units if you ask me. It seemed like they had a song on their hand and just put a few of the girls together to do it.

Orange Caramel is amazing, but I guess it's not the norm.

Sub-units seem like a quick cash-in for companies, or just to keep some profitable members in the spotlight. I think in the case of Pristin and Gugudan, either they were having big drama in their ranks (the former) or some key members weren't available (the latter).

I assumed Pristin V was a group of the older members (and I could be wrong) who did a more mature pair of songs with a smaller choreo set. Their Spotlight video was gorgeous, and almost exactly how Red Velvet does Automatic in concert. Which I love... I think Pristin V works really well as a unit actually, and I hope they continue.

When you have a huge group with a broad range of ages and personalities, subunits can be an excellent way to capitalize on some of the artistic ideas that may be out of a group's concept. This may be sacrilege, but I like OEC almost better than the entire LOONA assemble - even though I love all the members individually, especially yves and Heejin. I would love to see more from yyxy, too. With Yeojin, though. C'mon, BBC.

Full disclosure though, speaking as an fan of OC, OEC, f(Amber+Luna), and I actually love Twinkle.

I'll take a ballad from Luna if it was as stunning and beautiful as "It Was Love."
Or as uplifting and life-affirming as "Breathe." C'mon.
Maybe I'm just old.

Dahyun is my favorite TWICE member.

Honestly Cube selling La Vie En Rose to I*Zone is the best possible thing to happen to CLC, now everyone's talking about them and anticipating their comeback with newest teasers getting 10x more likes than Black Dress, it gave them publicity while the La Vie En Rose would just be another huge tank in an already loaded CLC magazine.

You know what really annoys me?

It’s called DDU-DU-DDU-DU but it actually goes DDU-DDU-DU.

Or DDU-DU-DDU-DU-DU.

Annoying.

I really can't remember how they spell it and I just use DDDD every time.

Now that I typed this, I think if it was Ddu Du Du then I had to use DDD which would make people confuse it with either EXID's song or the ddd that I usually use in my posts. Their minds.

Dal Shabet is the only group I can think of that got better the more members left. The group deserved better, especially Final4 DS.
In terms of music or in terms of liking the group?

EXO and Cosmic girls have only gotten better since losing members or having members on hiatus.

In terms of liking the group. I was never a fan of Viki. Gaeun and Jiyul were members that I didn't dislike but didn't add anything I cared for. I liked the other members and saw Woohee as a great addition which overall made a more cohesive and distinctive quartet. Musically I think they both started and ended well but had a bit of a valley in 2012 and especially 2013 (Be Ambitious is by far my least favourite release from them).

I'll have to take your word on EXO as I somehow have only seen that Wolf MV and nothing else of theirs. Despite my avi I'm not the biggest cosmic girls fan either, I had tried but they seem a bit mediocre, but with a group as big as theirs any non-Yeonjung hiatus is fine by me.
