Got to work, pulled up the playlist, pressed Shuffle to get ready to bop and it starts with fucking Distance.

I wanted to give each song at least 4 passes before settling on a score since so much of this is new to me and I didn't want all my scores to be first listen impressions. But this looming deadline -- sheeeeet. Anyway, I will definitely be submitting a ballot! Just need some more time with some of these songs.

This happens to me often - I get home so tired and then Distance comes on and just soothes my soul, making me shed tears of joy from its harmonica infecting my ear canals and prompting a quick dissociation episode.

Glass Bead is such an iconic debut, isn't it ? Yuju really had a vision of 4th Gen K-pop where none of these idols could hold a note for 2 seconds and said you guys got a crisis, i'm on my way.

The way all of Produce 48 trainees are scared to pick Love Whisper because they must actually sing alskjfdlf

Yuju you will always be famous !

Okay… If you promise to send us a ballot we will consider changing the deadline a little bit. Right @savilizabeths?
And also because so far we only got one ballot. Fjjdjd

Took a peek back at their first few release dates in General thread, and... it was truly crickets fff. I realize it was a different time, and a different (worse) subforum, but the lack of impact just seems bananas now.

Obviously the school trilogy has been (rightfully) reevaluated an all-time great opening salvo, but then you also had stuff like

and

and

and... I don't know, the muted reaction just boggles the mind. I choose to believe we've come far enough that we'd lose our marbles if a group showed this level of quality right out the gate!

Anyways, all that to say: I'm still steeping myself in their world awhile longer before submitting – but I'm having a wonderful time with it!

I think there's a conversation to be had with how cute, pure, bright, whatever you want to call it, concepts being perceived as cringey or uncool by international fans which is why after the big k-pop boom the current generation is more or less specifically catered to western fans with the growing amount of BLACKPINK-lite songs. Something to do with making k-pop more westernized and less "Asian" since cute is commonly associated with Asian pop music (which is a MASSIVE misconception). Look at what has happened with Weeekly and their upcoming comeback. I don't know if I'm making any sense here.

I was just filibustering to get @junglefish off my back about taking so long to submit, but thanks for contributing some actual substance to the conversation!

Hello Buddies and future voters of the GFRIEND rate. Today we're gonna talk about one of the very best idols of all time, miss Jung Eun-bi, aka Eunha.

Born in Seoul in May of '97, this Gemini queen, whose stage name translates to Galaxy, was predestined for stardom from a young age, having made her acting debut in the long-running KBS drama The Clinic for Married Couples: Love And War in 2007. There, she played the child of a couple on the brink of divorce, which is basically the basis for every episode from what I can gather. Thanks to a harrowing performance often compared to the works of Meryl Streep and Charlize Theron, and to her cute looks, the industry took notice of Eunha, foreshadowing her rapid rise to success. Before making her acting debut though, it wasn't all roses and sunshine for Eunha. Diagnosed with langerhans cell histiocytosis at the age of 7, she had to undergo treatment for many years, before finally being cured of the disease.

Nicknamed Circle by her fellow GFRIEND members because of her round face, Eunha has been from the start one of the most recognizable faces of the group. Quite the social butterfly, she's friends with a number of other girl group members, among them TWICE's Sana who used to refer to Eunha as her girlfriend. Is Sana gay? Jury's still out. They even went on a cute Escape Room date years ago, which got netizens talking with comments such as "They must really be close since they meet outside as well" and "I bet they weren't able to escape lol." Another one of her longtime friends is none other than SinB! Other than sharing the same birth name, the two VIVIZ members met while attending a dance academy when they were just children. Later, Eunha would go on to become a trainee under Loen Entertainment, before finally joining Source Music and reuniting with SinB.

With her striking looks, people could think Eunha's role in the group is of the token cute girl. I know that was my impression of her before I listened to GFRIEND. Lead vocalist, she has one of those voices that draws you in and doesn't let you go. While she may not be the best singer technically and may get pitchy from time to time, her voice is such an important part of why GFRIEND is what it is. Well, was. My personal best Eunha vocal moments are her high note in Rough and, of course, the infamous Sunrise high note. Is it perfect? No, but it's pure camp and we love that. If you all weren't so balladphobic, I would tell you to check out some of her OST work, where she really shines.

After GFRIEND's disbandment, Eunha joined Big Planet Music alongside SinB and Umji. A few months later, it was announced they would redebut as a trio under the name VIVIZ. Cue a lot of Vlives, and they finally debuted with the excellent single BOP BOP! last month. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open for VIVIZ on Queendom season 2, a show sponsored by Pfizer.

What are YOUR favorite Eunha moment? What made you fall in love with her and why is she such a legend? No, really, I would like an answer to that question.
