This clip made me laugh. Chimola at the front were slagging every band off in that interview and Sarah looked really bored. You could tell Nadine and Sarah were not happy and were thinking why the hell are you three saying all that. At about 4.20 Sarah and Nadine just laugh at each other as if to say what the hell are they doing and Nad jokingly says 'Bitch' when Cheryl speaks. No wonder they were pissed off Chimola were having a right old bitching session.

Nadine is not saying that at all. If you're actually paying attention to what Cheryl is talking about, you'd know what Sarah and Nadine were saying. Cheryl is talking about bands reuniting and having success. Sarah then comments that it worked for Take That. Nadine then says, it really worked for Take That...

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

I'm just gonna post this on here as well. I wrote this for my tumblr, but I thought it might get some attention here too. Its my essay/analysis of Something Kinda Ooooh. Or perhaps "overanalysis".

Something Kinda Ooooh is actually a really heartbreaking song.

Just by listening to the lyrics and analyzing them, I’ve come to realize that its a song about a girl who’s found out that her boyfriend is cheating on her.

The repeated lines “something kinda ooh, jumping on my tutu” is the beginning of the relationship, i.e. lots of sex and everything’s going great. That continues with the “makes my heart go boom boom” part. But when it gets to “something kinda ooh, bumping in the back room”, that signifies the girl finding out that her boyfriend is cheating. He’s fucking another girl in the “back room”.

The verse starts, and you can hear the pain in Cheryl’s voice. Even the video plays a part in the story. In the video, she’s driving, as in driving AWAY, as signified with the line “when tomorrow comes, baby I won’t even know your name”. She’s leaving to forget her man, and all the pain that came with him. The line “I’ll never meet you, never see you again” further reinforces this.

The next section tells of the beginning of the relationship again. “If you wanna put a line on me, now no, wait until the band gonna play real slow” is the night that the two met. He picked her up at a nightclub, but she wasn’t having any of it. But she came around and gave him a chance with “if you wanna handle me, you got to keep up”.

Once again, the chorus comes, and “bumping in the back room” is there again. She keeps flashing back to the day when she caught him cheating, while she’s driving away.

The bridge comes in, and this is where her heartbreak is most evident. “Oh boy, I can’t tell you how sad I feel.” This expresses her feelings perfectly. Also, the hurt in Kimberley’s voice is evident. Next, she’s saying to herself “I shoulda known where the man was at”, like she’s beating herself up for not seeing this coming. The other line in the bridge “tonight, is just another kink in your steel” tells us that she had her suspicions with the boy, and that she thought she might not be the only one in his life.

The final chorus comes and the girl is driving away, once again thinking of the beginning and end of her relationship. “Something kinda ooh, makes my heart go boom boom, something ‘side of me, wanting part of you. Something kinda ooh, bumping in the back room, something ‘side of me, wanting what you do.”

Interesting zking, but I still think it's about a kind of fling, I suppose? I rarely think about what a song means haha, especially with Xenomania cos usually it's just random!

Don't worry, Beccam just spends her days trawling the internet for proof that the girls all hate Nadine.

Doubt anyone has done that, would be interesting though and probably have a few errors if done by one person but would be a good idea.

I had the idea of asking when I was looking the lyrics of a b-side and it indicates who sing every part

On the Girls Aloud Net Forums they have a colour coded lyric section.

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

I was at a trivia night tonight at a pub in Melbourne, Australia. Between songs, someone played 'The Promise.' Obviously I was so surprised (it's such an appropriate song for every occasion, really - so classy, so likeable, so familiar) and had to go and ask the people running the trivia if it was some kind of mistake. "No, I love Girls Aloud," replied the woman running the thing. I asked if she followed the solo careers and she said yes, and went on with how awesome 'Beat Of My Drum' is. I was so excited because you never see or hear anything about Girls Aloud here, especially someone liking them!

That is all.

I love moments like that! Not that I ever have them. The closest thing is discovering someone on Popjustice is from the same country.

On an unrelated note, did Sophie Ellis-Bextor gain weight for your avatar?

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

Given Something Kinda Ooooh was written by about 47 people (ok, 6) I think it's actually not about anything in particular... The fact that the lyrics in the Out Of Control DVD/CD booklet and the lyrics on the video screen of their last tour are not the same would suggest it's actually lost something in translation, too. Wasn't their some talk of "got to, got to heat it up" verses "doctor, got to heat it up" and "ooh-ooh" verses "tu-tu", etc.? I'm sure it was documented that they just changed them randomly because that's what it sounded like and what everyone sings. Also, didn't Mirnada Cooper say she normally forms the words around the sound of the track and fits random words in that sound like a good fit, rather than writing some sort of 'storyline' lyric? It went through several structural changes and re-writes, too, like most songs I guess, so I don't read too much into any of Xenomania's stuff. They literally record(ed) ideas, scraps, verses and choruses and piece them together, Frankeinstein-like. See Sugababes Round Round, which is two songs sliced together because they couldn't finish either. That's what makes (or made) them so amazing, for me, the senselessness.

BUT if I had to give an interpretation of Something Kinda Ooooh... I'd say it's about going out to a club and flirting... it's about the prelude to sex and/or romance... it's like the kid sister of Fling.

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

I thought Round Round was originally four songs that were turned into one.

To me Something Kinda Ooooh has always been about going out and having a one night stand. Which pairs well with the antipromiscuity of The Show.

But I still think Biology uses Southern slavery motifs as an analogy for a dysfunctional relationship.

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

Does anyone have a decent YouTube link or whatever to the Tangled Up Tour version of Sexy No No No? Was there ever a studio version of this? It gives me goosebumps hearing it. I would love to hear it without crowd noise.

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

There is no studio version. They should release one though, perhaps as part of a rarities disc.

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

If they're 'coming back' in 2012, wont they need to start recording material soon? Has any news been heard about them recording?
