Girls Aloud - Album Re-issues + General Discussion

As far as Girls Aloud B-sides go, I think "She" is pretty amazing. The verses are lazy but the chorus and Nadine's bit at the end are sublime.

Oh My God - yes! Nadine seemed to be getting epic, bad ass climaxes in the OOC era. Not only was 'Beautiful Robots' one of the best moments in Girls Aloud's entire back catalogue but she also gets the amazing 'Get your coat and let's GOOOO!' in She.

If you took Girls Aloud's twelve best b-sides, you would have a pretty decent album.

A lot of their Bsides are album/single worthy. Still, I hate the idea of a bside album. They've already sold them to us twice before (on the singles and in the boxset)

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

I am obsessed with 'She' at the moment. I love the fact that they're all singing about some 'she devil,' and you're thinking "where's Nuhdeen?" and then she comes a wailin' and you realise that NADINE IS THE SHE DEVIL.

I also adore that the song ends on the bridge. Rather than chuck in another chorus because 'that's the done thing,' Xenomania understand how a song should fit together and, in this case, where to end things (i.e. on a high).

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

I don't know why, but I had a feeling that Turn To Stone, Love Is Pain or Love Is The Key could have done really well if released in winter 08, due to the Cheryl/X Factor buzz.

One of them should've replaced The Loving Kind as second single.

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

I can't stop listening to It's magic today, I really don't know how on earth did I remember that song.

Does anyone know if Brian Higgins go to Cheryl's wedding?

"She" was so awesome. Honestly, I can't believe that gem wasn't a single.

I like the fact that it ends on the bridge, too, but it should have been repeated at least twice. 'She' is all sorts of amazing, anyway. Nuhdeen owns that song (Nicola does, as well. I like her "Lolita" voice that she usually displays in their b-sides).

No I meant was he at her wedding in 2006. I've always wondered whether Brian spoke to the girls when they weren't recording.

Ah, ok. I thought that because I read go instead of went and also because of the news about ashley asking Cheryl to marry again.

Whats shocking is if Girls Aloud earn as a group £1,000,000 for doing Sunsilk as they are high rate tax payers that gets sliced to 50% - so £500,000 left over.
Then they need to pay 10% to Hillary their manager - normal fee = £450,000 left over

They will only earn £90,000 each. So a report figure of £1,000,000 gets easily reduced to less than a tenth each!! it's shocking....
and if that money had been from music they'd had to have also paid writers, production costs, distribution costs, pay producers, promoting costs and the record company on top of all that.
That's not how it works. Say the girls are given £1m, that's £200,000 each. They each pay £7,480 on the first £37,400 (20%, the first tax band), £45,040 on the next £112,600 (40% for earnings between £37,400 and £150,000), then £25,000 on the remaining £50,000, so that's a total of £77,520 each on income tax, not the £100,000 people seem to think would have to be paid when someone comes under a 50% tax band.

This is true! Leaving them £122,480 each before Hilary takes her 10% so thats leaves £110,232 each roughly. Which aint too shabby for a days work!

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

I'd be the face of sunsilk for 10% of that.

Get me Hilary on the phone.

I listen to It's Magic almost every day. Then again, I discovered the song only a year ago.

I find it hilarious that Nadine was a bridesmaid. I can't see that happening now.

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

This is fascinating and you all deserve to hear this (it is not fascinating).

I joined Girls Aloud for a performance last night in my dreams. We performed 'Call The Shots' at some award ceremony. For most of the performance we were in a giant hole in the stage, with sloped edges. No one could see us. Then one by one, we'd run up the side of the hole and pop up onto the main stage. Kimberly and I were the last to get up on the stage and she was having a bit of trouble getting up, so I attempted to lift her and was just like "this is not going to happen, you're too heavy," to which she started laughing. We eventually made it onto the stage.

IT WAS THE BEST DREAM EVER.

Amazing. I'm like a school girl at the moment; I can't stop laughing.

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

Anyone seen this Sarah story do the rounds today? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbi...ngs-backstage-meltdown-Channel-4-studios.html

I could be completely wrong but I think there's a bigger story behind this. It looks as if her PR have interevened to try and play the story down a bit and her spokesman (Sundraj I presume) admitted:
‘She had a personal problem and was emotional but she’s fine now.’

Sounds a bit out of character for Sarah though:
Sarah had a meltdown backstage at the Chris Moyles Quiz Night,’ says a source.

‘She was crying hysterically and having tantrums. Chris was shocked – they had to pause filming to calm her down.

Breakfast? Anyone? Maybe she's regretting all the surgery - she looks a lot older now.

Re: General Girls Aloud discussion thread

Aw I hope she's alright. She might have had personal problems with friends/family or with the wedding plans... guess we won't find out though. She did look older on the Chris Moyles show and at the premiere but I'm hoping that 'look' won't be around for long, she gets bored easily so maybe she'll grow the hair and be blonde again.
