I think their ‘moody’ ‘fierce-girl’ sound was always prevalent in their material after ‘No Good Advice/Life Got Cold’, it just wasn’t at the forefront when it was time to choose singles.
Presenting the girls with a softer image definitely helped shift the market in their favour, but the bold brass sound they had first come storming out with was there on the album deep cuts!
What Would The Neighbours Say - ‘Wake Me Up!’, ‘Graffiti My Soul’ and ‘Hear Me Out’.
Chemistry - ‘Models’, ‘Wild Horses’, ‘Watch me Go’ and ‘Swinging London Town’.
Tangled Up - All of it bar….nope, all of it!
Out of Control - ‘Turn to Stone’, ‘Love is Pain’ and ‘Untouchable’
Both ‘On The Metro’ and ‘Every Now and Then’ continue the sound and update it perfectly!
