Glastonbury

OH Shania is taking one of the biggest crowds of the festival for sure.

Gagged of Cyndi pulls out a couple of other live dates (I would have thought she's be a shoe in for an eventual Legends slot)
I'm actually a bit surprised it isn't Cyndi doing the Legends slot, she's had a much longer career than Shania (who is technically the "newest" act ever to do it)

I wonder if they were ever in talks with Cher or if that was just rumours.

SZA is a headline act, but for Primavera or Parklife. To have her as the closing headliner for Glastonbury feels very much like a non-event.
I hadn’t even thought about this. I feel bad for her… people will genuinely just go home.

I don’t mean it as a criticism of SZA, but getting out of Glasto can be a nightmare and she’s going to be pretty unknown to festival attendees. For a lot of people, especially families, Elton / Coldplay / Sh**r*n on Sunday is a reason to stick around.

It's giving Kendrick on the Sunday all over again. The crowd was dead.

SZA is a weird get and feels like a last minute addition but the rest of the lineup is pretty great. I don't think I've ever done my last night at Pyramid anyway so will just go to another stage. Hopefully it helps to make the return journey a bit easier.

My issue isn’t with the artists, there’s plenty for me to love on the lineup, there’s just no one really… special on there. No exclusives. No “wow I can only see them at Glastonbury”. Everyone on the lineup I’ve either seen or had the opportunity to see on their own tours this last year, other than Dua, and she’s got her own tour coming anyway!

Camping chair and picnic blanket crew will be there no matter what.

Sign of the times I guess. Touring’s where the money is these days

Does anybody have tea on why Madonna declined to do Glastonbury? It would be fun to get some professional footage of the tour that’s happening rn. And the UK loves her right?

I think it's because Glasto doesn't pay its headliners as much as international festivals.

Who would people have rather seen apart from Madonna? The line up looks great. I don’t get the problem.
I think it’s maybe less about the individual acts and more this combination?

Coldplay’s fifth slot despite having no hits since the last one and SZA’s relatively moderate popularity in the UK means the big name here is Dua. In other line-ups she’d be the one a bunch of the festival regulars aren’t sure about, but would be won over by because she’ll almost certainly smash it.

Kings of Leon could have been a good get seeing as they’re in the South West the week before (and probably points to a secret set). Foo Fighters were great last year and would make excellent headliners. But if they were going to promote someone / be kingmaker I think they might have been better off going for Little Simz or Idles.

But yeah, just the headliners that are weird. The line up is deep.
