Has anyone's single been sent from the Mute online shop yet? My order still says it's pending. I want my postcards damnit! It upsets me that this isn't doing very well in the charts though.

Embargo on discussion of the album? Really? That reminds me of movies that aren't screened for the press because the reviews are inevitably going to be punishing. Eek.

I'm surprised Rocket is in the iTunes (UK) top 100. Well, small victories, I suppose.

Yes, mine was sent last Wednesday and arrived yesterday.

The postcards are alright, but I suspect you'll probably find them just as easily in those distribution points you get in clubs/bars.

£5.49 for a card sleeve and a couple of postcards, I must be mental.

Oh, and it's "not Top 40" in the midweeks. That's, um, really rather shit.

I received mine yesterday. Only 2 postcards but glad to have the full version of Rocket for my ears.

I'm surprised radio han't fucked this sing to death. Their last album did very well with a top 10 single and loads of people have wanted a return to the pop 'Supernature' sound. They've built solidly on that and delivered the goods but without any airplay. I'm baffled. It's so radio friendly.

Alison's age probably doesn't help (not that that sort of thing should matter, of course, but she's way beyond Radio 1's target demographic).

Oh balls. Mine still says pending. I pre-ordered it over a week ago too. Very strange.

I too am surprised that this hasn't been played to death on the radio. It's not as commercial as Ooh La La sure, but neither was A+E and that went top 10.

It's failure to launch (sorry) is very surprising. I can't really remember, but I don't think this has had any more or less promotion (excluding radio play) than A&E did? That it probably won't go Top 40 based on their reputation and previous success alone is pretty baffling.

I think (realistically) it will go top 40.

The remixes all sound a bit samey to me (as I usually find with remixes), however the Richard X and Tiesto mixes are quite glorious.

I'm fine about this song doing less well. I hated that at my last 2 gigs for Seventh Tree that I was sat next to a 50 year old Times Reading, River Cottage viewing wank stain who clapped along to pre-seventh tree tracks exclaiming that he "hadn't heard this one before". I hope nobody but me buys and loves this album...how Goldfrapp SHOULD be.

Well based on first day sales, which include any preorders, it isn't. MusicWeek are already saying it "looks like it will miss out".

I must say I'm surprised 'Rocket' is being ignored so much by the radio stations.
Could it just be that Goldfrapp have hit their commercial peak and the casual Goldfrapp music buyers have now moved on to newer things like GaGa, etc ?

I am not the biggest fan of 'Rocket' but have bought the CD single because it has a good remix package and I just wanted it for my Goldfrapp singles collection (there's loyalty). I am still bloody waiting for it to arrive from HMV though.

'Rocket' is an absolutely fantastic pop song - I can't really hear Van Halens Jump at all but she is channelling the ghost of Laura Branigan for sure and I love love love 'The Branigan' (does anyone remember 'Spanish Eddie'?)- Alison sounds melancholy and joyful at the same time - although the chorus is a little lacking those synth stabs and her falsetto = AMAZING POP.

Getting ahead of myself a bit I know, but I'm worried that if this album doesn't do too well the token cash-in 'Greatest Hits' will appear soon, as pushed by Mute according to the Goldfrapp BBC interview. I'd love them just to go on and on and on creating fantatsic and unique campaigns for each project. Hurry up and announce the live dates!
