Grace Jones

A small piece on The Guardian website, an interview with Jean-Paul Goude on the photo for Nightclubbing, how they started to work together after she began copying him, their work together on her image, One Man Show and the influence of their work on later artists.

Interesting short piece, but beware of how he comes across...

Like a french guy?

I thought it was better than Bulletproof Heart by a mile. The Joe Galdo productions like Clandestine Affair and Volunteer were lovely. The tracks that were re recorded for Hurricane also sounded good. Well Well Well and This Is Life were as good, if not better. Some of the others had mix issues but the songs were good. It’s mainly the Sex Drive producers tracks that were the issue. Although the album versions of Sex Drive and Typical Male didn’t have all that processing on the vocal so sounded better for it. Black Marilyn was a good song but undercooked production wise.

I've only heard a couple of these, surprised the whole thing hasn't leaked long ago.
I didn't realise Well Well Well and This Is Life were that old but the Hurricane album versions are perfect.

Love You To Life was also on there, and Key 2 Funky, which was re-recorded for Hurricane but cut sadly.

I believe there are plans to do ‘something’ with the cut Hurricane tracks but I don’t know what it is.

I never knew this. How many cut Hurricaine tracks are there?

Hurricane is back on Spotify!
Ok. I seem to read this often. Can you please explain to me why people are happy when something like this happens? Surely you can't have been waiting to first hear an album if you such a happening excites you this much? Surely you would have purchased it on CD or vinyl? What am I missing?

We can stream it. Put it in playlist. Send it to other people. Put it in some more playlist AND give the good woman Grace Jones some coins for streaming it!

Maybe it's a personal thing. I only listen to Spotify these days, it's nice to have basically most of the music in the world everywhere you go. The car being the best example.

Grace Jones would make more money off it if you purchased it.
But thank you for the explanation. It must be a millenary thing.

I also own the physical copy. Love that little chocolate factory booklet. I even have the Williams Blood remixes on vinyl.

Aren't we millennials sweethearts? Buying her records AND streaming the **** out of her music.

I didn't know you were buying her records, you just mentioned being happy about streaming, and to me that sounded like someone who didn't have a way to listen to her music at all, because you can put it on your pod or phone and listen to it whenever you want.
