Grammys 2023

I don't mean to be shady but Bad Bunny never really happened here in Brazil, so to read people think he had the album of the year gives me whiplash to the year Beck won AOTY and everyone around me started googling him frantically. I know Bad Bunny is huge, but he's a lot more niche than Adele/Beyoncé/Harry will ever be. And I also know Brazil is an irrelevant market for pop music but still, you can ask any homosexual on the street to list all of Renaissace tracks and they won't stutter! It's all about impact and influence.

It's also weird to see people shocked at Rosalía being "snubbed", she was indicated in the only category I saw fit for her. I thought the main categories required the nominees to, you know, sell albums. Hasn't that been the only consistent metric to predict the nominees for the last 6 or 7 years? That and having H.E.R on your team, that is.

Realistically speaking, ABBA will easily sweep all categories they're running for.

If ''El Mal Querer'' didn't win big categories, thank God ''Motomami'' was snubbed.

There are always some AOTY nominees which aren't exactly blockbusters, so Motomami being nominated wouldn't have been surprising at all. It being snubbed isn't that surprising either though, as people have said it's probably mostly down to it being too left-field/"modern" for the Grammy committee.

Bad Bunny has been smashing streaming and touring records all year, he deserves the recognition.

I totally agree! My post was coming exactly from that place - how bizarre is it that someone as huge (as I mentioned on my post) and accomplished as Bad Bunny hasn't reached my very limited bubble. I haven't downplayed any of his achievements, it's more about the strange optics of inhabiting a space where a huge song or artist isn't that huge. I probably could have worded it better though!
