Grey's Anatomy Universe

The article says she "will make return visits later in Season 19" so I'm assuming it's going to be exactly like the MerNick situation where it's just open ended. Damn this show needs to end ddd.

Eh, Maggie was never the most engaging character. I hope she gets a good exit and they don’t replace her with someone else.

I assume Nick will be gone after this season too so that would be 3 series regulars down taking the total cast to 14 which feels more than enough with focus on the new interns.

This. I'm fine with Maggie exiting. The interns have been great, and the cast is way too big - I want to see more of Jo/Link and Levi/his new boo. This is very clearly a transitional season, and I think they're doing a decent job navigating it all. Wrapping up Maggie's story in episode 14 leaves us with a cast of 14 regulars (considering Scott as recurring at this point, despite his billing) for the final 6 episodes of the season.

I'm interested to see if we get any more returns. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jackson, April, and Tom back at some point. And Addison should appear again around episode 15 or 16, too.

Patrick Dempsey is perfect there, the way he looks at hear, understanding everything, the way she looks at him.
I may be old, but it's very rare to feel that kind of emotion nowadays. I don't know, it was another way of writing or directing, I don't really know.

I couldn't watch the last 2 episodes, so I watched them yesterday. It's the first time I think GA is thinking about theur legacy. The episode with the abortion procedure, last episode with cancer plots. Is this a sign that the end is near ? I don't know, but I know they're thinking about what will stand the test of time.
Abot this week and next week "event" episodes, I think they may be linked to the abortion procedure.
Edit: ok just saw the promo. It's def about the clinic and abortion in general, but still think it's about that abortion.

Hmm I rewatched the clip and I wonder if that story was meant to be a part of the dialogue rather than actually happening on screen. IE having them show back up in the premiere and talk about how they were with Cristina.

I just don't think they'd get Sandra back for just a Towen story.

The big news is not what's supposed to have happened in the new episode but this annoucement:

May 18
9 pm Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 finale (two hours)

When was the last time we got a 2 hour finale ?
I really don't think this is going to be a series finale, but something big might happen

new showrunner:
the network announced that executive producer Meg Marinis will take the reins as showrunner next season, replacing the departing Krista Vernoff.

about closing the show because no one cares anymore:
The renewal extends the show’s record as the longest-running primetime medical drama in TV history; Grey’s premiered on ABC back in 2005. It’s still a ratings powerhouse, ranking as ABC’s top entertainment series in the key adults 18-49 demographic.

Ellen
However, she’s slated to return as Meredith Grey periodically, including for May’s season finale and at least one episode prior to that.

Not Deadline casually hinting that Ellen wanted Krista gone? ddd

While there is no acting deal for her beyond this season, I hear there is likelihood that she will appear on the show next season. Pompeo remains an executive producer on Grey’s, and provides the voiceover that opens and closes each episode.

In a recent interview, she hinted that she may not be done playing Meredith Grey, and I hear the showrunner change on Grey’s may increase the probability of her reprising her role in Season 20.

Ellen picking new producers, a new love interest, and a massive pay raise before she signs a $623B deal to appear in 3 episodes and keep narrating.

It definitely caught me off-guard. But Ellen has always been vocal when she doesn't love the direction of the show, and she may just not be happy with some creative choices - or feeling like the show could use a refresh? Which I think is odd because she seemed to get so much creative input with Krista running things.

Alternatively, she may just be a big fan of Meg and be excited in seeing the direction she takes.

Deadline also notes that contracts are up for Kevin, Kim, Camilla and Caterina at the end of this season, so they'd all need to re-sign to continue.
