Album has begun to make rounds online because of New Zealand.
Not because of New Zealand - the official release is only in 14 minutes.
Oop, okay then it just leaked a few minutes early, cause it literally just popped up.
3am is the one.
“Clementine” works so much better in the context of the album
Okay, it’s making sense now why “Nightmare” wasn’t included nn. This is very laid back. “3am” almost makes up for its exclusion, though.
3am sounds like a lost Hilary Duff Metamorphosis track.
Nightmare would suit the album perfectly.
Eh, I don’t hear how, honestly. She was right when she said the mood is totally different. Even sonically it’s a lot bigger than everything else here.
Colors is my favourite Halsey song and was in my most played songs for 2019's Spotify Wrapped (mostly because I only discovered it last year).
Not me kinda calling this. Which line is it?
The sharp inhale in Graveyard will never not leave me gasping for air alongside her. A moment.
It's this bit:
"You're killing people!"
"No, I'm killing boys! Boys are just placeholders, they come and they go!"
"You're my best friend, and I want to help you, but I won't let you kill again"
"...That's a lose-lose."
This felt way more cohesive than I was expecting, despite it gliding through so many influences and genres. Not entirely sure what that person who said they heard tropical pop was listening to.
Overall, it maintains a consistent tone to tie everything together, which reminds me of Rebel Heart in a way – that mixtape feel.
Okay but how iconic would it have been if it also ended with:
"I thought you only killed boys?"
"I go both ways."
Also it just hit me how weird it is to sample another movie in a song for a movie soundtrack.
Ok but don't make my expectations skyrocket like this.
It’s more debut Avril than Hilary
Meh. The albums a shoulder shrug for me.
You Should Be Sad
Without Me (this really feels like it doesn't belong here and its so old it shouldn't be)
Still Learning (I mean... this is just a repeat of Graveyard)
Killing Boys was interesting but it feels like an interlude, not a song. 929 was at least interesting songwriting and its a nice closer I suppose but I wouldn't listen to it again.
I’ll second the meh feeling. I mean I haven’t really followed Halsey that much but she had gotten my attention with “Without Me” and “Nightmare.” I would of loved too see how the “angry” album would of panned out but if she wasn’t really feeling like that anymore it more than likely would of shown. I’m glad she did what she wanted but it’s just not for me. At least right now.
