I'm not really that big on dream pop as a genre as a non native English Speaker i feel that genre relies more on lyrics and *vibes* so i was apprehensive when i saw the Clairo comparisons buuut i think this is rather a great and dynamic album.
I cannot stop playing this album, there's just enough color to the production to really make it stand out among more nondescript dream pop albums: Admit It is laced with crack in that regard, I could live in those cascading synths forever.
The lyrics are kinda doing it for me too:
Thought I found my explanation, but lately there's been confrontation
And she's convinced herself that's all there can be
What an excellent album. I randomly discovered Lose a few months back (most likely thanks to the New Music Friday thread here so thank you) but I wasn’t aware of what else she had to offer. I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality of this album.
Her rockier moments like Say It Now and What You Did are fantastic and totally up my alley.
I’ve been having a bit of a tough time recently and I just heard Shut Down and those lyrics are a bit too relatable. “But I’m not feeling myself” is all I’ve been saying to people to try and make sense of it even before hearing this song.
