HARRY STYLES-AZOFF RUMORS HEAT UP FOLLOWING 1D’S TROUBLED FINAL DAYS
On New Year’s Eye, celebrity-gossip site Inquisitr posted a story headlined “Forget “Hendall,” Why Is Harry Styles Hanging With the Azoffs?” Along with speculating about the One Direction centerpiece’s sexuality and his relationship with Kendall Jenner, the report stated that Styles had been spotted dining with the Azoff family while vacationing in Anguilla and St. Barts.
“Many of Harry’s fans are hoping that Harry and One Direction can break free of Simon Cowell and their current management during their upcoming hiatus,” reporter Alan Ewart wrote. “Many believe that [Irving] Azoff would be a perfect fit for Harry and One Direction. It has also been reported in recent days that Harry has registered a number of solo tracks in the U.S., so it may be the case that Styles is working on a business relationship with Azoff.
“It is likely that Simon Cowell’s SYCO will still have some sway over the One Direction name, but Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne may well be able to sign with Azoff as individual entities.”
Regular HITS readers are well aware of the Styles-Azoff rumors; we’ve been reporting for months that Harry and CAA agent Jeffrey Azoff are close friends, and that there’s a strong possibility Jeffrey, Irving or both will oversee the solo career of the 1D heartthrob in a management-client arrangement. It’s less likely, however, that any of Styles’ former mates will wind up with the Azoffs.
Styles is said to feel no affinity toward other band members anymore; indeed, their relationship has been so strained during the course of the last year that 1D insiders were expecting a blowup of epic proportions during the group’s last tour. The situation became so dire, according to our sources, that the band members were no longer talking to each other, with fist flights nearly breaking out at several points.
Styles' apparent disgust with the other members leads many to believe that Azoff will only be representing Harry for the time being. If and when their lifestyles deplete their cash, we may see a reunion at some point down the road, but SYCO will continue to own the 1D brand.
