Harry Styles - Harry’s House

This is just plain rude and disrespectful. Why changing the title of this thread ? This is Pop Justice Forum, not a Beyonce fan forum. I don't like Mr Style, at all, but he won. She won gazillions of grammys,. no, fans are upset cos she didn't win one thay wanted. This is just something between ridiculous and rude. Grow up guys

I mean, none of the lyrics, melodies, vocals, arrangements, production, engineering, mixing, mastering, photography, art direction or design were near any objective standard of excellence. Even if they were giving him one of the highest honours in music based on its success, there were bigger selling and higher streaming albums released during the Grammy eligibility calendar. Maybe they should do a Best Marketing/Promotion category next year since that's a big part of the industry too

There's a reason why this website is the colour of pussy pink

I can’t with him trying to insist that he’s not completely contrived by saying ‘I don’t think any of us sit in the studio making decisions on what is going to get us one of these.’
Sis, you literally wrote ‘Music For A Sushi Restaurant’ and you’re up there in your sisters tank top because you want to seem cool.

It's not even really about Harry. The Grammys are still pulling the same shit as they did all throughout the last decade, even though they promised that they'd changed. Gonna quote myself from a few years back and add Renaissance losing to Harry's House to the list.

The Grammys tend to give black artists, those with commercial success and critical acclaim, the Rap, R&B or Urban Contemporary (whatever the fuck that means) awards then fuck them over in the Album of the Year category (i.e. the main one), giving the awards to albums that aren't generally as well regarded. In the last six ceremonies:

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean lost to Babel by Mumford and Sons
Good Kid Mad City by Kendrick lost to Random Access Memories by Daft Punk
Self Titled by Beyoncé lost to Morning Phase by Beck
To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick lost to 1989 by Taylor
Lemonade by Beyoncé lost to fucking 25 by Adele
DAMN by Kendrick lost to 24K Magic

It can't happen this many times in a row and still be a coincidence

Yea this was more disingenuous than any of his queer baiting. I can potentially believe that when it comes to the queer baiting stuff he has good intentions that he simply isn't smart enough to understand the repercussions of. But not thinking of the Grammy committee when he was recording his album? Take a seat, Harold.

And for the record, it's not even that this album is Bad. It's not. It's pleasant enough. But stacked against the likes of RENAISSANCE, or even Un Verano Sin Ti, I just...don't see how it measures up at all.

This.

No other album had the cultural impact that Renaissance and Un Verano Sin Tí had in the last year. Especially Renaissance. Everything project Beyoncé puts out always shifts the culture. I don't care if she's the most awarded artist in Grammy's history, she deserved AOTY in 2015, 2017 and 2023 and will probably deserve it the next time she's nominated.

I know this isn't the Renny thread, but the fact that one of those anonymous Grammy voters that Variety interviews used this as a negative?

I loved Harry's debut, found Fine Line's singles fine enough and enjoyed the singles from this prior to them becoming overplayed (I feel the same about About Damn Time in all fairness). But there is no way that he deserves album of the year. As a 23 year old, the album has certainly been very present in the straight girl convent of my life, and the music has been all over TikTok along with his shows. But it had nowhere near the impact Renny did.

I also know it shouldn't be about this... but its the climate the Grammys have created - he hasn't even remotely paid his dues to be considered for such a prestigious award. Yes, Fearless won in 2008 but Taylor had ground her guitar into the ground until it was wood shavings to get there, and it was also a lot more significant than this album. Same goes for Miseducation, which may be closer to comparing for this album since they both came from groups... but that album was far and out one of the most defining albums ever released.

I don't know. I'm rambling and 3 glasses of wine in. But none of this makes sense.

I'm hoping so hard he gets tangled in some controversy, anything really, so the draggings a la Timberlake can start to flood out of every major publication. Pls gay Jesus punish this straight man.

I don’t browse the Harry Styles thread but thought I would today, just to see if others agree that he didn’t deserve album of the year.

Having said that, this comment is enough to yikes me to a full 180 and never come back here.
