Hear'Say

he/him
These are all the unreleased tracks I believe there are:
  • The One (this was a ballad)
  • Rush
  • This Is Me
  • If I Go Astray (also called Stray)
  • Fool (If You're Missing My Lovin')
  • Just Havin' Fun (Leaked by writer last year)
  • Zero Gravity (from the writers of Pure & Simple)
  • If You Wanna Roll (Leaked)
  • To Get Over You / 2 Get Over U
  • Single Heart - Simon Ellis
  • Play That Song - Tim Hawes
Do you know what eras they were from?

Not all of them, but believe these were all album 3:
  • This Is Me
  • If I Go Astray (also called Stray)
  • Fool (If You're Missing My Lovin')
  • Just Havin' Fun (Leaked by writer last year)
  • If You Wanna Roll (Leaked)
These two may have been album 3 too:
  • The One
  • Zero Gravity
I have a feeling the Tim Hawes / Simon Ellis stuff would have been album 1/2. 'To Get Over You' was apparently a No Angels track that Hear'Say recorded to be featured on. Not sure on Rush.

The No Angels song slaps, I loved when pop groups did that thing where each member got the lead vocal on the chorus throughout the song.

Oh that No Angels song is a bop. Bit of a weird choice as a girlband/mixed band duet though.

There’s literally no chance of them opening the “vaults”, nor is there any demand for it, but I would really love all those songs.

I’m surprised the singles from the third album never leaked. After all these years, you would have thought some would have appeared along the way, especially as they have never been re-used by other artists.

I still think it was a waste to move on to a second album so quickly. I get why they did - they probably could see the ship starting to sink and wanted to rinse the whole thing as much as possible but they could easily have released something like 'Carried Away' as a big Christmas single and then re-packaged the album with new tracks in the New Year. Released 'Everybody' as the lead to that re-release and then pushed something like 'Make It Happen' (in a single remix form) as a follow-up single.

I can see the logic of what they did. The problem was the press had made a big fuss about The Way To Your Love selling a tenth of the copies of Pure And Simple in week 1. It was obvious that after a million copies sold of the album, the next single would've charted much lower. Then of course they were criticised for milking the fans by moving on to album 2 so fast.

They really were in a bad position no matter what. I do think they could have pushed one more song from Popstars before moving on, though, even if it didn't reach #1.

My colleague and I were only discussing Hear'Say the other day at work, and she didn't know there was a second album.
I can see why they took the route they did, with a second album so close to the first, but by doing it, they followed their own narrative that they weren't going to be in it for longevity, even if they wanted it to be. Of course, managers and record companies become involved, who are seen to be the people who know best, but that's not always the case.

We also discussed how they should get back together and we'd pay good money to see them (one can dream)

He / Him
Not sure if it's been mentioned here.. but was their an original video for The Way to Your Love that was scrapped due to bad weather / it not looking great on film, prior to the eventual one that was filmed? I'm sure I have a memory of watching a behind the scenes VT on CD:UK of them in Spain in a field shooting the video but they all agreed it looked terrible, so they re-shot in a studio back in the UK.

I've got a vague recollection of this!
