Suki Waterhouse - Memoir of a Sparklemuffin

Arguably this could be in the main thread as I think the new single (Supersad) is getting a bit of radio traction. Album is out Sept 13th.

Kind of an obscure release, but those who love Cindy Lee should check out this one. It's mostly ambient, field recording-type stuff, but the drone is broken up by these stunning, melodic passages that hit you like a ton of bricks.

Uh this album is phenomenal by the way, I've been rinsing it all week. Thank you for adding it to the thread!

@enjoy @xOJakeXo @Euphoria @Crisp X @aux come stan!

Thanks for reminding me to finish listening to this album. The blend of shoegaze-y melodies and guitars with sophisticated pop textures is great. Listening to the rest of it now and it's great.

Honestly would love to work with the writer/producer on my own music.

My all times have put a new album out today, their first in 7 years. It's good.

They've always been the underdog of post 2000s indie rock, and it's gratifying seeing their fanbase grow (albeit due to... embarrassing reasons) and see them get their flowers from critics, including today's Pitchfork Best New Music tag.

Initial favs are Long Throes, To Hell in a Handjob and 0898 HEARTACHE.

Just picked up my copy but won’t get a chance to listen until tomorrow or Monday night.

Just curious, what are the “embarrassing reasons”?

Wilbur Soot (previously a big Twitch streamer, Dream affiliate) is a big fan, plays them a lot. He formed a band (Lovejoy) that covered one of their tracks too. His fans are super corny but dedicated, and it’s surprising to see a big influx of them enter the LC! fanbase.

…and then he got accused of sexual assault earlier this year, so uh, yeah. Not good company to be associated with.

Ah, ok. Was aware of none of that!

YouTube suggestions strike again as I stumbled upon Nicole Miglis last month. Initially known for fronting the excellent art pop band Hundred Waters, which I could dedicate another post to, she has since appeared on several Bonobo songs and played in his live band as well. She also puts out flute centric ambient music under another moniker.

Her debut album under her own name is dropping on August 23 and I'm obsessed with the singles that have been released so far. Her sound scratches an itch that the likes of Weyes Blood, Bat For Lashes, early St. Vincent or Caroline Polachek do for me.

Come stanning

She’s not about to be hipster for much longer, but this is Sofia Isella, a 17 year old who’s about to sky rocket after opening for Taylor’s Eras show at Wembley Stadium.
Imagine Billie writing Pure Heroine through the lens of Ethel Cain.

My good Canadian sis Sister Ray is back and I couldn't be happier about it. With Hannah Cohen gearing up for a new album as well, it's been a good week for sad guitar girlies.

This came across my YouTube algorithm and I'm enjoying it so far - extremely unvarnished, lo-fi dream-pop that feels as indebted to Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt as Chelsea Wolfe's The Grime and the Glow, but less dark (A Car With No Lights On is also very Lana-coded). I can't find a whole lot of information on Dagmar Zuniga online at the moment but it makes more sense here anyway I think
