Hole/Courtney Love

I think there are good things here and there on Nobody's Daughter. And some truly bad things (Letter to God, for example). It's not a Hole record, though. And all of the songs were better as demos for the second solo album.

The demo of For Once In Your Life is one of my favourite Hole songs, there’s definitely some gold in those demo sessions.

It's not a Hole song, though. Hole was Hole, this is not Hole. This is Courtney. She chickened out of making a second solo album, she's talked about it numerous times. But yes, it's a good song.

I know it's a drum I keep banging, but I wish Geffen would upload the Hole singles if they aren't gonna bother doing a deluxe at any point. I know Hole's extraneous material is a smattering of b-sides and live tracks but still. Does My Body, The Hand Grenade stream anywhere? Even a basic singles upload from Celebrity Skin would give us "Best Sunday Dress", "Drag", "It's All Over Now Baby Blue" and the demo for "Dying" - all four great tracks.

Best Sunday Dress is easily in my Hole Top 5, I also love their cover of It's All Over Now, Baby Blue and the brief version of Hungry Like The Wolf on one of the Doll Parts singles.

Does anyone know, apart from a) it's a bloody fantastic song, if there's a specific reason why "Petals" is one of Hole's top streamed songs on Spotify after their big 5 singles and "Jennifer's Body"? Was it in something?

How Dirty Girls Get Clean would've been a FANTASTIC follow up to America's Sweetheart. She didn't need the band name at all. It's horribly produced by that guy who's name I can't even remember. He must be that irrelevant.

She was obsessed with him and the final product ended up in true shambles.

I love 'Nobody's Daughter' (and the Rehab Demos), but think of them very much as Courtney Love projects, not Hole output.

On the subject of rarities and songs missing from streaming, it would be brilliant to get 'My Body, the Hand Grenade' and the 'Ask For It' EP online at least. I recently digitalised my entire Hole/Courtney collection to add them to my Spotify playlist, and I think this is a pretty comprehensive list of everything that's missing:
