Horror films.

I saw this tonight and whilst it took some…artistic licence with the Irish, it was a riot. Like Straw Dogs meets Argento with the bizarre choice of filming on sets with funky lighting.

Can anyone recommend me some lesser-known horror gems from the oughts/early teens? That era is a black hole for me as I've mainly stuck with vintage horror over the years. I tend to rely on recommendations as IMDb/Letterboxd ratings are pretty useless for genre films.

Re-watched The Menu last night and one of the most brilliant things about it is that you know the entire premise going-in (the trailer gives away 90% of the movie), yet because of the strong script, acting, pace and how it expertly builds tension/suspense it doesn't even matter, the end result is compelling and fantastic. Definitely one of my favorite movies of the year.

The Menu was terrible ddd. They said eat the rich but with like, zero anger underneath the “satire” - what’s the point? It felt so opportunistic.

The whole cheeseburger bit made my cheeks burn with cringe and Anya Taylor Joy was woefully miscast. Nothing landed.

Besides Judith Light, of course. Queen.
